Age[edit]

It is good to discuss these things. An Instagram post of hers does seem to confirm her birthday is November 6th or 7th, but the issue remains what year she was born in.

These two sources quite explicitly point to LØLØ being born around late 1997:

One describes her as 25 in October 2023, the other as 24 in April 2022.

(...) Mandel will play guitar and sing an acoustic version of Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel with her friend Amir Brandon. Rising Star is her first competition, although she has been performing at open mic events. “I’ve been singing forever,” said Mandel, who competes Aug. 21. “It’s what I love to do. I love to perform.” Mandel finds it compelling to be on stage and make audiences happy.

The 19-year-old, who enjoys acting, also writes music and is working on releasing an EP.

This would indicate a birth year of 1994.

If we are to take all sources at face value as good, reliable and relevant, we have a problem, in that there are two wildly different answers to our question.

By my estimation, the issue with the third source is that there is not a definitive indication that the Lauren Mandel in that story is the Lauren Mandel who is LØLØ. We do know they're both from Toronto and were into singing and songwriting from quite a young age, but it's not that uncommon a name (there also being a movie producer and an author named Lauren Mandel, just among notable people). Such a coincidence is by no means unthinkable. To a lesser extent I also wonder if LØLØ wouldn't have mentioned at some point having been part of the CNE Rising Star Talent Competition, given it seems to be quite a big deal; but I can find no instance of her mentioning that.

Anyway, am soliciting input. AntiDionysius (talk) 08:03, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
