Accuracy of photo[edit]

  • The before 1890 photo posted as Kyrle Bellew is not Bellew. It may or may not be his son. It is misidentified at the New York Public Library, Billy Rose collection.Koplimek (talk) 20:09, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Has the library or other citable reference confirmed that the photo has been misidentified? Until then, it's hearsay. Froggerlaura ribbit 15:35, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've sent in corrections on identities of photos to them(NY Pub Library) before. It most certainly isn't Kyrle Bellew. Just a staffer mistake or dump file of cabinet card under Bellew's name. It may or may not be his son, if he even had a son.Koplimek (talk) 01:53, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's probably not him, but the best we can do here is remove the photo from the article. Removing/relabeling in Commons is tricky. As an example, I've tried for years to get this photo [1] relabeled at Commons, even after contacting the source. The source just deleted the photo, which didn't help matters. The title was finally changed, but the caption remains as originally written. Froggerlaura ribbit 00:58, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Son[edit]

This article suggests Bellew's wife to have been mother of Cosmo Kyrle Bellew, whose own article gives his mother as "Alice Racketrow"; the cited Australian Dictionary of Biography entry states he was survived by "his son", but this article states no obituary mentioned a son. So what's the correct state of affairs? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.109.203.31 (talk) 03:57, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
