I don't see a need of the Italian name of the town--PG-Rated 18:06, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, that's what I also agree on. In fact, there is an on-going discussion at the Albania talk page, in the section "Names of Geographical Places in Albania". Therefore, I believe the article should be edited accordingly.--A B X T  ? 15:16, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Principality of Kastrioti in 15th century in Krujë[edit]

There are several articles that describes Kruje at the end of 14th and beginning of 15th century:

Informations found in those articles contradict each other, sometimes even to informations within the same article.

Krujë The text in the lede of the article says:

"...in the 15th century it became the capital of the Principality of Kastrioti under Gjon Kastrioti, father of the national hero of the Albanians Skanderbeg"

Later in the article is written:

"In 1395 the town was briefly captured by the Ottoman Empire, while from 1410 to 1415 it was ruled by Niketa Thopia. In the early 15th century the city was conquered again by the Ottoman Empire..."

I think that those two informations contradicts each other and if we compare all those articles and sources it is not possible to conclude if and when Gjon Kastriota controlled Kruje as capitol of his Kastriota principality.

Krujë, Niketa Thopia, Helena Thopia Different dates when Niketa Thopia gained control over Kruje:

  • Krujë - "...from 1410 to 1415 it was ruled by Niketa Thopia"
  • Niketa Thopia - "In 1403, Niketa Thopia managed to capture the city of Krujë from his cousin, Helena Thopia, thus gaining another part of the territory previously held by the Thopia family."
  • Helena Thopia - "In 1392 as a result of the hostilities between her husband and the Venetian forces, her cousin, Niketa Thopia, a Venice loyal, attacked the city of Krujë and forced them to find refuge among the Balsha family.". Niketa controlled Kruje until 1394 when "Konstantin Balšić, an Ottoman vassal, married her and inherited the rights on hte Krujë castle. He acted there as an Ottoman vassal. In 1403 Niketa Thopia captured the castle from him."

It is obvious that informations contradicts each other.

Konstantin Balšić controlled Kruje in period 1394—1403, which is 9 years. He is not mentioned in this article. On the other hand it is emphasized more than once that Gjon Kastrioti controlled Kruje although timeline of events from these articles does not leave any space for Gjon's control of Kruje.

Here is a timeline made according to informations found in above three articles:

Period Controlled by quote of text from the article
— 1388 Karl Topia "After the death of her father, Karl Topia, in 1388, she inherited the castle of Krujë and the surrounding region."
1388 — 1394 Helena Thopia "After the death of her father, Karl Topia, in 1388, she inherited the castle of Krujë and the surrounding region."
1394—1403 Konstantin Balšić in 1394 "Konstantin Balšić, an Ottoman vassal, married her and inherited the rights on hte Krujë castle. He acted there as an Ottoman vassal.
1395 Ottoman Empire In 1395 the town was briefly captured by the Ottoman Empire.
1403 - 1415 Niketa Thopia In 1403 Niketa Thopia captured the castle from him....while from 1410 to 1415 it was ruled by Niketa Thopia.
1415 — 1443 Ottoman Empire Upon his death in 1415, the castle of Krujë felt in Ottomans' hands
1443 — 1478 Skanderbeg recaptured in 1443 by Skanderbeg...The Ottomans took control of the town after the fourth siege in 1478, and incorporated it in their territories.

I propose to investigate above mentioned mistakes and perform necessary corrections.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 10:50, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

History of Krujë between Ottoman capture in 1478 and the 1906 revolt[edit]

The History section contains virtually nothing on the history of the city while it was under Ottoman rule for over 4 centuries. This would be a great section to work on expanding. Mooonswimmer 17:34, 30 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
