category issue: opened in 19xx is not accurate[edit]

re this cat, I'm browsing the Virtual Museum citation, as I'm fairly certain that the canal pre-existed the current powerhouse and expanded dam.Skookum1 (talk) 06:23, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Canal status[edit]

Kootenay canal is the name of a wikipedia article, it is not listed in the BC Geographical Names database. The "Kootenay Canal Generating Station" is the name of a large project and it contains a private power canal not a more noteworthy public waterway and the land it crosses is not a public place. This aqueduct was created by, and is subsequently the property of a crown corporation BC Hydro, who decided to name their project with canal, a similar situation as BC Hydro's naming the "Seaton canal".Dougmcdonell (talk) 22:34, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
