Why would this go to AfD without a request to expand or cleanup first? This looks like a school that should be included in the project and, with the recent work, is at least Start Class.--Hjal 05:11, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although 8 editors were in favor of keeping the article and only 4 wanted to delete it, the result was "no consensus," so the people working on this article should continue trying to improve it to prevent it from losing the next AfD. History: needs cleanup; ~~reads like copy and paste from school brochure;~~ define attendance area/feeder schools; ~~tell us where Kennesaw students went to high school before 2000~~
Campus: construction, design, controversy (if any)
Students: ~~include the test scores and~~ add demographic info
Faculty: anything to say besides the number? education and credential levels? awards?
Extracurricular activities: ~~create new section and~~ include sports, marching band, and spirit (delete student names and most coaches, unless notable); rivals? league? (the district itself is so big, that there must be two leagues or divisions for football, if not for all sports); add girls' sports; add student govt? clubs? newspaper? other?
Curriculum: ~~change title of "Academics" and~~ keep magnet info
Notable alumni: may be too soon for any of these

school article guidelines[edit]

A week ago, I did a lot of work bringing this article into line with the guidelines for school articles. Today, an IP editor replaced all the out of guideline content I removed stating "Spammer eliminated gross majority of page content. Restored deleted content." in their edit summary. Ignoring for the moment the total lack of logic in that statement, removal of anything with a proper explanation is not vandalism, which is the term I think our IP friend was grasping for. If you disagree with it you come to the talk page and discuss it, not just blindly put it back and call people names. Gtwfan52 (talk) 03:22, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just don't understand why you need to come in and remove a chunk of a school's page for not falling within guidelines. The thing is, guidelines are guidelines, and not rules. While I understand that as community members editing Wikipedia, we are all in theory equal, I also ask that those community members which reside in Kennesaw, GA be allowed to express some of our achievements and data about our school without it being taken away by someone who isn't a member of our local geographic community. I understand you're not on a vendetta against removing school achievements from every school page on Wikipedia, but please let us keep ours. As far as the guidelines go, the disputed content doesn't specifically violate what not to include. You may not know this, but our school has an incredibly successful nationally competitive marching band program, among other accomplishments. Our page just seems empty with this material taken away. So your reaction is to just put it back without discussion? That is not how it works. Other than your WP:ILIKEIT argument, can you cite any reasons based in Wikipedia policies, guidelines or in reliably sourced references as to why it should be there? I will be removing it yet again; it is wholly up to you to justify its inclusion, not the other way around. If you can cite sources, reliable independent sources, not the school's website, to the band's accomplishments (or any other group's), that content would be a welcome addition. However, the only accomplishments that the guidelines allow are wins in national or state level contests. No "first divisions", no second places or below, no local or regional contests. Never any names, student or faculty (unless we are talking about principals past or present, or people notable enough to have a Wikipedia article on them). Everything must be written in neutral language (in other words, stay away from adjectives and adverbs like superb, remarkable, fantastic, earth-shattering, unique, etc.) You should also bear in mind that this is an encyclopedia directed at the entire English speaking world. All the content should ideally be referenced, and as such, a person from anywhere should be able to write the article on this school as well as a local. This article is in no way for the school or its community; instead, it is about it. Wikipedia is edited by consensus, and the consensus for what should appear in school articles has been decided by the community already. If you think they are in general out of line, you should take that up on the talk page of the school article guidelines.Gtwfan52 (talk) 20:45, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
