Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Kemal Malovčić was an extremely good selling musician in the 80's. The rules state that a musician is notable if:

  • "Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one country". Well, Mr. Malovčić had (at least) the following: 6 diamond, 2 platinum, 1 gold
  • "Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable)". His pre-1991 albums were released on Diskos (record label).
  • "Has become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability." This doesn't require much explanation, as he is a household name in Bosnia and Serbia, and also popular in the rest of fomer Yugoslavia. His 50+ years career confirms this.

I admitt, we need stronger sources. However, those are extremely hard to find when talking about folk musicians, as that kind of music is usually marginalized by the mainstream press. I would like any help on improving this article, but it's deletion is, if you ask me, simply not reasonable. --StjepanHR (talk) 12:51, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
