Assessed[edit]

Assessed as "Start" standard with "High" importance. A section on amateur RL in the area may be useful, as would some photographs (particularly any from previous eras) and a section on notable players. Tim Fellows 03:49, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Youtube footage[edit]

Is put on youtube by an employee of Keighley Cougars with the club's permission and is openly filmed at Cougar Park (I've seen it being done), this is not a copyright violation.

Nor are fan sites / forums. There is no copyright on merely using the name of a club on a website. These sites exist with the knowledge of the club and club employees post on these forums.GordyB (talk) 11:16, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • That may be so, but we don't have any reference that the footage has been posted with the consent of the club. Also, even if the club consented, what about re-broadcast rights for Rugby League? Has anyone else got any views? --80.154.98.131 (talk) 12:18, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly according to Wikipedia's policy on copyright, you should not link to known cases of copyright violation see Wikipedia:Copyrights#Linking_to_copyrighted_works, there is nothing to say that each and every link ought to be checked just in cases there is a million-to-one chance of a violation taking place.

Secondly the youtube site itself links to the club site where DVDs of the full match are on sale which is a rather curious thing to do if the aim was to rip off the club.

Thirdly the rights issue simply isn't an issue. Sky Sports own the rights to National League games but only broadcast a very small number of them, they've even allowed S4C to broadcast games featuring Celtic Crusaders. Many other clubs even incoporate the youtube pages into their site as Gateshead have done.

The lady responsible for posting the footage is at the bottom of the list posted here. If you want to contact the club and ask them yourself whether they are aware of it then by all means do so but there is really no need to verify that each and every link has the permission of the club, there is no reason to suspect any copyright violation here and no need to ask permission to link to youtube.GordyB (talk) 15:39, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to FreeBMD the only L. Orchards born in Wales in the 1900…1920 window that would would be consistent with the Keighley player's 1935 appearance for Wales are; Leslie Edward Orchard, Leonard Orchard, Lionel S. Orchard, and Leonard S. Orchard. Would anyone have a given name (forename) or middle initial for L. Orchard? Best Regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 14:37, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A Brian Wright played for Keighley circa-1962, could this Brian Wright be the same man? Best Regards. 16:01, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

C. Burton Birth?[edit]

A player named C. Burton[1] won a cap for England in 1930 against Other Nationalities while at Keighley, according to FreeBMD 150-people named C. Burton were born in the West Riding of Yorkshire between 1890 and 1915, i.e. coinciding with a circa-1930 playing career, but only one male was born in Keighley, i.e. Cyril Burton, (birth registered during April→June 1914 in Keighley district), whose mother's maiden name was 'Kent', is this C. Burton? Best regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 11:36, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
