Clarifying the Monster #8 translation[edit]

Should we add information regarding the different translation compared to the Viz Media one? There's this Anime News Network (ANN) article that has information about the MediBang as a company that we could use. It confirms that MediBang does the translation for Manga Plus and when it was established. We could also add information about the translator for the Viz Media version so we could differentiate the two more (there's this ANN page although I don't know if it's considered a credible source. I don't think we need to clarify the Monster #8 translation in the lead, nor do I feel it's worth mentioning it comes from MediBang. The different title is elaborated on in the media section and it doesn't seem particularly relevant for the WP:LEAD to mention the specifics of the titles. Also the Anime News Network encyclopedia is not considered a reliable source per WP:ANIME/ORS#Situational. Link20XX (talk) 23:58, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I guess I understand. I thought that adding an explanation was important because it isn't only the title that's different, the two versions are substantially different (the MediBang one literally translates the kaiju terms for example). Orion409 (talk) 16:44, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My bad on replying after a year has passed but I only just realized that the article that I linked isn't an ANN encyclopedia entry rather it's an interest article written by a contributor.Orion409 (talk) 11:35, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Promotions in France and Italy[edit]

Can we add this article about the promotion of the release of the first volume in France and this one about a similar promotion in Italy. We could put it into the media section.

If we decide to use these articles, I'd need some help regarding the name of the author of the ANN article (Choo Sum Lee), specifically how to put the name in the last= and first= parts of the cite web template. Orion409 (talk) 17:13, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

References in Setting[edit]

I have a question about the references in the setting section. Initially, I added them because the information is contained within a couple of pages and it seemed like something that's easily verifiable compared to referencing a plot summary. But is it even needed? Do we delete it? I think deleting them might allow people who don't have the volumes, but have read the chapters online, edit it if the need arises.

Per MOS:PLOTSOURCE, plot section (and I assume that the MOS includes "Synopsis" and "Setting" sections) does not need to be sourced with in-line citations, but there's no problem with including them. Xexerss (talk) 19:47, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I thought it might be superfluous since it is a primary source but I guess we'll see later down the line. Thanks for the clarification.

Other people involved in the creation of the series[edit]

The English volumes have credits at the end which list several assistants who have also contributed to the series. A background artist, a weapon designer and an assistant who provided "finishing work." I think they should be included in the article, however I am not sure as to how to reference this since their names appear at the end of every volume and, as far as I know, there aren't reliable secondary sources that mention them.

The English volumes also have their own translator and letterer who are mentioned in the ANN review of the first volume who we could mention in the article as well. Although this covers only one volume they are credited in subsequent volumes. Orion409 (talk) 11:33, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think they can be mentioned in the 'Production' section. You can directly cite the volumes containing said information (probably one is enough) with Template:Cite book. Xexerss (talk) 14:43, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info. Orion409 (talk) 17:29, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
