No Urban formatted radio stations in Sacramento?[edit]

I am a new resident in the Sacramento metro area and always listen to the radio when I travel. So I got familiar with all the radio stations in the area fairly quickly. I had just moved in from the San Francisco Bay Area. After much observation, I noticed that Sacramento lacks an urban contemporary formatted radio station. I consider both KSFM and KBMB to both lean towards the rhythmic contemporary/rhythmic Top 40 direction. In fact, Sacramento has a lot of top-40 formatted stations. In the Bay Area, my favorite station KMEL served as a full-time urban contemporary outlet featuring a playlist that was heavy with Hip-hop and R&B and had no top-40 or pop songs at all that I noticed is occasionally heard on KBMB.

I was wondering if there is a possibility an urban contemporary formatted radio station will ever be back in the Sacramento area ever again? KHYL in Auburn has an urban format but its more of an urban adult contemporary station (just like KISQ in San Francisco) rather than an urban station serving the age 18-34 demographic. I really miss a station like KMEL for the Sacramento area. Maybe if KBMB converted back to the format it had when it was first launched in 1997.

I'm sad to see kbmb lose their urban music format for a top 40 contemparary format. Their urban format represented their name to the fullest. The BOMB. It is truly sad to lose an urban formated radio station in this area.
