International Jury Prize[edit]

During the first years of the Cannes Film Festival many things were mostly undefined and uncertain. Prizes were given with various names and kept changing according to the moods of the year. Walt Disney in 1953[edit]

Cannes official page shows no Jury award in 1953, but imdb (see here) says the Jury gave and Special Prize this year to Disney's career. If it is true, it's worth adding it to the article. The thing is that if you google it, some other websites state it as a "Legion d'Honneur" "Director Award (entire career)" or "Special Homage". Very strange. I'm not sure IMDB can always be trusted. But the other websites look less trustworthy! And the official Cannes page doesn't even mention it... a press release from 1953 would be useful. Cop 663 14:14, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are two official sites, apart from the now archived pages of www.festival-cannes.fr (https://web.archive.org/web/20131004235749/http://www.festival-cannes.fr/en/archives/1953/allAward.html) that have kept records of the awards and one has to compare them carefully before consulting IMDb. The one is the site of the French Cinema: http://www.cinema-francais.fr/cannes/cannes_1953.htm, and the other a semi-official archive that was kept through the years: http://www.cannes-fest.com/pr1953.htm. As we see in the last one, a "Prix spécial du jury for his contribution to the prestige of the festival" - not for his career, neither a Homage (which was for Flamenco by Edgar Neville) - was indeed awarded to Disney. I would stick with this unless we wish to state "according to A... according to B..." which I find unnecessary. Hoverfish Talk 17:31, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Refimprov template and Citation tag[edit]

IMDb citations are not recommended for Wikipedia, but I have found it very difficult to find online citations for this subject, so I have left it there.
