Death date[edit]

[1] gives the death date as April 3, 1951 where as User:CactusWriter gives April 8, 1951 from the April 10 Obituary. So did Luxury Bazaar misread the 8 as a 3? How good is the scan quality? — Dispenser 17:10, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The date of death is sourced to the individual's New York Times obituary -- a reliable source for a biography. The website blog.luxurybazaar.com is not considered a reliable source. And, as stated in the policy at WP:V, WP:BLOGS are not acceptable as sources for referencing this type of information in a biography. If a reliable source for an alternate date is found, it should be presented for discussion, otherwise the date should stand as noted. CactusWriter (talk) 18:59, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@CactusWriter: You did not answer my question. I assume you both looked at the same source. So how good is the scan quality since the NYT obituary behind a paywall and I can see it for myself. — Dispenser 19:15, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I see. The scan is perfect quality. The brief NYT obit from Tuesday, April 10 1951 states "John Wells James... died on Sunday in Magagnosc, Alpes Maritimes, France, at the age of 77." It speaks about his artist membership in the Salmungundi Club and his founding of the drug company and the King's Highway Savings Bank. As far as Luxury Bazaar is concerned, it does not matter what that page states -- that website is not an RS source. CactusWriter (talk) 15:05, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
