TV appearance[edit]

Pinette was in the final episode of Seinfeld, and I think this appearance is noteworthy, but I'm not sure what would be the best way to put it into the article. If I put it in the Filmography it would stand out being the only TV appearance listed, but if I put it in the Biography it would make it seem I'm suggesting it was a major turning point of his life. - Ugliness Man 08:53, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, I skimmed the article too quickly, his TV appearances are already detailed, sorry. - Ugliness Man 08:59, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just have to add that his singing voice is NOT that impressive. He's off key much of the time, and doesn't seem to be aware of it. The audience certainly is, though, especially during his impersonations of The Chipmunks singing contemporary songs. The audience politely applauds and yells (drunk?), but they're pretty quiet once this starts. It's rather embarassing to listen to and/or watch. He should cut the "singing" from his act. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.181.150.32 (talk) 20:30, March 5, 2006 (UTC)

I'm not gonna say that he has the most beautiful singing voice in the world, but to say he's a terrible singer is just silly and pure rubbish. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.33.116.183 (talk) 1:10, May 9, 2006 (UTC)

Deletion?[edit]

I'm not sure what was the reasoning behind the deletion of this article, but I see no justification for doing so, so I have brought it back. Ubergenius 14:33, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done with Hairspray[edit]

In his I'm Starving he says he quit Hairspray I think it could joke —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.206.165.23 (talk) 06:21, 22 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

On his website, he says the shows run was over. It doesn't appear that he quit, but rather the show was just done its production run. -- Ubergenius 20:10, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Really Badly Done[edit]

This is one of the worst pages I've seen on Wikipedia. John's page didn't even have external links! No Myspace OR official website. I put both in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.225.252.158 (talk) 04:57, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't blame the missing external links for the quality. If you check the history, you'll see that I included the official website when I created the page. That's just Wikipedia for you. It's like an undulating ocean of (dis)appearing information :) --Metron4 (talk) 00:00, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Who writes these pages?[edit]

"Cherub like demenor" WTF?!?! It is a frekkin encyclopedia! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.225.97.0 (talk) 07:42, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

People who don't know how to write an encyclodpedia. I agree fully with you there. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 02:53, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The quote "cherub-like demeanor" is a repeated line from his own stand-up routines. But yeah, it should at least be spelled correctly, and attributed, and all the rest. 107.9.45.143 (talk) 21:29, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

Did he die on the 5th or the 6th? The article says both. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 01:16, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

April 5th, 2014, according to news media. There are some people vandalizing the page, including random date changes. Taco Viva (talk) 06:09, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I think, however, that the 5th versus 6th date discrepancy arose from genuine mistake (not vandalism). I believe that it had to with with "the date is April 5th here in the USA, but it is April 6th when the news was reported in, say, England". Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 18:27, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rampant PC?[edit]

Doesn't it strike anyone else as odd (not to mention ludicrous) that his enormous girth is mentioned nowhere in this article. His entire comedy persona was based on it. He joked about it constantly in his act, he was hired for the parts he undertook precisely because he was so obese. He died at 50 from complications of his obesity, yet if you read the article you would have no idea he was, well, fat. Is it actually forbidden to mention his principal characteristic? Do we need a trigger warning? A safe space? Good grief...2602:306:CC3A:6860:A9CB:8F77:96E8:7A80 (talk) 00:06, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Who said anything about it being PC? Maybe nobody thought about it. And the whole "trigger warning/safe space" shit is getting old. It clearly "triggers" you so much you ranted on a Wiki discussion page about something you completely imagined…and yet you mock triggered people for being so up in arms. The irony. "Good grief".
What an odd thing to get so frustrated about. 209.6.200.92 (talk) 01:25, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

John deserves better[edit]

I've seen more biography on people who are practically unknown to the public. John Pinette was a major figure in the world of stand-up comedy. There's far more to him and his life than what appears here. No section for his personal life? I don't think he was married, but that doesn't mean he had no life off-stage. Nothing about his health problems? Or his dramatic weight loss before his death? No mention of what other comedians/celebrities had to say about him? He performed on cruise ships a lot - nothing about that time in his career? John deserves better than this. What a shame. I wish I could add more myself. MandieJ1975 (talk) 23:27, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. If you don't feel comfortable editing an article, feel free to add a link to a source with a little summary of what you want added on my talk page and I will be more than happy to add something. Here's a list of Reliable Sources. Feel free to Google and find stuff. I have a lot of eggs in the basket and researching is not an option for me at this time. No mention of drug addiction?[edit]

There's multiple news sources that explain he developed a prescription drug addiction and checked into rehab months before he died. Why was this never mentioned? I'm happy to add it myself, but I feel there may have been a reason why it's not? 209.6.200.92 (talk) 01:31, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
