Kerrville New Folk[edit]

Does anyone have a source for this?

I know for certain that he was a past winner at Kerrville, but presently the New Folk Competition has six winners each year and doesn't rank them 1st, 2nd, etc. It may have been different in the 80's, but now each year there are six people who can (and usually do) declare themselves "Winner of the New Folk Competition at The Kerrville Folk Festival." Usually this is done without mention of the other five. -MrFizyx 15:02, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rolling Stone quote[edit]

I think we may be misquoting rolling stone. This article says (and has said since it was first written):

Upon the release of his first album in 1987, Rolling Stone magazine dubbed him "the voice of 'new folk'."

The quote I've seen many other places reads:

In 1991 Rolling Stone's Eliza Wing called Gorka "the preeminent male singer-songwriter of what's been dubbed the New Folk Movement."

It would be really good if someone with access to Rolling Stone archives could check this out so that we could correctly cite it. I suppose that its possible that Rolling Stone made similar comments on two occasions, but I doubt it. -MrFizyx (talk) 17:32, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For now, I'm going to assume that the sourcing in this article is basically good. -MrFizyx (talk) 17:39, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
