Help Needed: Third Reference[edit]

There's something funny about the third reference ("ucp2"). I believe I have formatted it correctly as [webpage title] but the brackets and the URL are visible. If you can fix it, please do. ubiquity 13:09, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

I realize that the sources for this article are all on-line book reviews of Knox's book, and that they are all probably repeating information that is in the book. So what I really need to do is read his book, and then collapse all the sources. Anyone who wants to do that is welcome to do so. The Only Law Clerk's Memoir?[edit]

Although appearing today in "Did you know?" on the main page, the statement that Knox wrote the only memoir by a Supreme Court law clerk is not accurate. The first such memoir published was by James_Harvie_Wilkinson_III (see the last paragraph of that article), and more recently there is Closed Chambers by Edward Lazarus. Some research[edit]

I've been doing some research on John Frush Knox - he's a descendant of Hans George Froschauer, whose descendants I've been tracking. (John's a 6th Generation descendant through Hans's son George, I'm 9th generation, through Hans's son Wendle.) The "Frush" in John's name is his mother Elizabeth's maiden name, which changed from the original "Froschauer".

John seems to have been buried in Iowa, which makes sense because his mother was from there. However Cook County, Illinois documents say he was buried there, but nothing comes up on Find a Grave. There is a John Knox buried there in Iowa with birth and death dates closely matching John's (Find a Grave Link here), and nearby is a Samuel Knox with dates nearly matching John's fathers (Find a Grave Link here) Samuel was John's father's middle name, and John's father was James Samuel Knox, Jr, so he may have preferred the middle name.

It seems John's mother died in 1910, according to what most people have on ancestry.com. This would have made John three years old. I cannot find a burial site for her. John's father must have remarried somewhere along the way, because John speaks of his "parents" in his memoir. His brother's birthyear according to the people on Ancestry.com is 1910, I wonder if she died in childbirth.--Varkman (talk) 02:17, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
