Changes by User:Mynameis3[edit]

I have undone 2 reversions to the text that the above user has done.

  1. Removed the "credit" for the appearance in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. IMDB nor any reliable sources name Bell nor the character as being in the first movie of the series, therefore it is inappropriate for us to give that credit.
  2. Removed the mentioning of the character being in the 2nd and 3rd Hobbit movies. When I worked on the prose prior to the article being accepted, I improved the mentions of the other movies before by unifying them into a The Hobbit (film series) link.

For these reasons I will continue to monitor the article as the above user is more interested in their PoV as opposed to the best practices of Wikipedia. I can discern no good reason to invoke WP:IAR with respect to these changes. Hasteur (talk) 20:25, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just because the film is not on IMDB it doesn't mean that John Bell didn't appear in the film, as I assure you he did. This is proven in the following three sources: http://news.mymiddleearth.com/2012/07/03/exclusive-qa-with-hobbit-actor-john-bell/, http://cinemovie.tv/behind-the-scenes/watch-the-hobbit-world-premiere-live/, http://www.monstersandcritics.com/movies/news/article_1707566.php/First-clip-from-The-Hobbit-see-s-Gandalf-offer-Bilbo-a-familiar-gift. No, you don't get to restore your prefered version and then discuss. Let's do an analysis of the sources.
  1. Mymiddlearth.com interview: Does not mention An Unexpected Journey, therefore doesn't help the case.
  2. Monstersandcritics.com: Only mentions Bell in passing in the ensemble cast. Orlando Bloom is mentioned in the article too, and he does not appear in the film.
  3. cinemovie.tv: Same as mostersandcritics.com
Therefore your claim is invalid. He might show up on the super-duper extended edition, but based on what we have, we cannot take your assurance for fact. I will be removing the assertion shortly. Do not restore until you can prove with reliable sources that he was on screen in the first movie it is inappropriate to include. Hasteur (talk) 20:48, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • A photograph of Jon Bell, a very handsome young actor, would be very much appreciated. Das Baz, aka Erudil 20:53, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 26 March 2015[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Move to John Bell (Scottish actor). We have consensus that the article should move but that the proposed title isn't kosher due to John Bell (Australian actor). This should clear it up. Cúchullain t/c 20:31, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

John Bell (child actor)John Bell (actor) – John Bell is no longer a child, so the page should be renamed to reflect this. -- 101.160.135.104 (talk) 14:24, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • NOTE This move depends on another move request at talk:John Bell (actor), if that move fails, this move should automatically fail as well. This is in effect an improperly formulated multimove request -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 22:37, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have closed the other requested move at "John Bell (actor)" as move to "John Bell (Australian actor)". DrKiernan (talk) 16:51, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong oppose a different person occupies "John Bell (actor)" making that title a WP:PRECISE failure. No article should occupy that name, it should instead point to the disambiguation page John Bell; A title this page can occupy would be John Bell (Scottish actor) -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 22:37, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Suggest with John Bell (British actor) as per Britannica: "Sir Sean Connery British actor - Sir Sean Connery, original name Thomas Connery ..." GregKaye 06:10, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as proposed because that article name is already taken, and has been since 2004. I have no opinion on which other disambiguator may be more suitable. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 12:10, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - Names already taken and has been since 2004. –Davey2010Talk 13:06, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support move to John Bell (Scottish actor) - CookieMonster755's gotta point - He isn't gonna be a child forever and at some point this will have to be moved so I honestly think the above name is better - We could all oppose this now but as I said at one point or another it'll need to be moved. –Davey2010Talk 19:40, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wait until he is 18. He is currently 17, but when he turns 18, he will no longer be a child actor, and than we can decided a new distribution. CookieMonster755 (talk) 19:34, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • Why wait? The new disambiguator should be usable whether or not he is a child, which is a term that depends on jurisdiction, and opinion. (Such as Britain used to allow people to join the army at 16, thus signifying a level of adulthood) -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 04:51, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
