Was Mary Hawtry his second wife? Is there a list of all his children? I ask because I am a direct descendant of John Bankes. Ralph was born in 1631 when John was 42 which is why I believe she was a second wife.Perhaps he was married previously to a woman from a humbler station in life?--jeanne (talk) 17:29, 7 April 2008

Dorset WikiProject assessments[edit]

I've assessed this article as being of 'Low' importance, though I think there is an argument for assessing it as of 'Mid' importance (due to John Bankes's national achievements, and the importance of the Bankes family in Dorset).
