I would suggest that this line below be removed from the current bowl games subsection within Career History, and instead put something similar to his "SEC Champion (2019)" listing under Career highlights and awards. The Big Ten Championship is a conference championship, and not a bowl game.

  • Removed CCG from bowls. Not gonna add it to career highlights because he was not the starter and the section is too long as it is. Ostealthy (talk) 15:29, 17 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Burrow. Congratulations it is a well done page. If I may offer one suggestion?[edit]

The opening paragraph has a large problem. It reads “Burrow won the Heisman Trophy for the 2019 season. Before transferring to LSU, Burrow began his collegiate career at Ohio State.”

It makes many of the internet speed readers think Joe Burrow won his Heisman at Ohio State.

My suggestion: Burrow began his collegiate career at Ohio State before transferring to LSU where he worked with their coaches to evolve into a premier record setting quarterback. Burrow won the Heisman trophy his second and final year at LSU. Cnoteriot (talk) 16:35, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cnoteriot, I don't think there's much opportunity for confusion as the article is currently written. Your suggestion also uses an unencyclopedic tone. Ostealthy (talk) 04:10, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Does "In 2019, his second and final season with LSU" not make it clear? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:34, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Dissident93: the revision at the time of his comment did not include that phrase. Ostealthy (talk) 22:12, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree the opening paragraph is worded awkwardly. Cam Newton's page is much better, reading: After starting his college football career as a backup to Tim Tebow at Florida, Newton transferred to Blinn College. He then joined Auburn, where he won the BCS National Championship and Heisman Trophy in 2010. I'm going to edit it to read something closer to that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcarne7 (talkcontribs) 23:28, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lead[edit]

  • lead looks good.

Early years[edit]

  • "The elder Burrow, whose last coaching position was defensive coordinator for the Ohio Bobcats for more than a decade, retired after the 2018 season in part to be able to see all of Joe's games in his final college season.": personally, this sentence might a little bit out of scope. (3b)
  • "One day while visiting the office": unclear what "the office" is referring to. (1a)
  • "the seven year old had a future": might be better to say "the seven year old Burrow had a future" (1a)
  • "Jimmy Burrow": try to keep it consistent. either Jim Burrow or Jimmy Burrow, but not both. (1a)

College career[edit]

  • looks good

Professional career[edit]

  • "Burrow was one of 58 players invited to the draft, which was held virtually due to social distancing regulations arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, where he was selected first overall by the Cincinnati Bengals." The "which was held virtually...pandemic" part isn't necessary in my opinion. And I would specify which draft. (1a/3b)
  • "He became the first rookie n NFL history": fix minor typo (1a)
  • Statistics table: instead of making "Career" an external link, just cite it in the same style as the College statistics table. In other words, make it a proper citation. (2b)

Joe played in 17 games in 2021, not 16. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Muthchri (talkcontribs) 16:55, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That's something that's often been debated. If the player is playing with a helmet, you often don't see what they actually look like. It's pretty normal for NFL players to be represented by pictures of themselves without a helmet on. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:46, 30 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please try to be more clear when making an edit request. In this case, because I actually addressed this same issue on another page the other day, I know what you are asking. Replacements that don't play are not technically Pro Bowlers, only original selections that opt to not play are still Pro Bowlers, so I've removed it from the infobox. Joe “Brrr”[edit]

I’m confused as to why it’s mentioned that he’s calm under pressure. There isn’t much evidence to support this claim and he hasn’t really done anything to garner this reputation. He only has 7 game-winning drives (the same as Blaine Gabbert and Teddy Bridgewater) and 5 4th quarter comebacks (the same as Tyrod Taylor and Mitch Trubisky). He’s no Dak Prescott but he’s certainly no Tom Brady either. This is just blatant glazing by his cornball fanbase. 2601:2C5:C181:BF80:9072:D5C4:8D0C:84BD (talk) 03:15, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't opinion on Wikipedia's end. It is by far more accurate to say that this information is included as analysis or commentary on his game by football writers, analysts, etc. All of these more subjective things (like calling him "calm under pressure"), as opposed to objective numbers, are presented as such (i.e. subjective opinion) and are literally referenced when they are brought up (except in the lede, where it isn't required). See these citations used at the end of the Player profile section: [1][2][3] Soulbust (talk) 23:11, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It may not be Wikipedia's quotes but whoever runs this page is curating quotes and opinions to fit their own personal view of him. Is the person who runs this page the president of his fan club? Player Profile should only consist of undeniable, objective and almost measurable characteristics. I don't think there's another football player's page that contains entire sections within their Player Profile dedicated to quoting opinion pieces about his "intangibles", how "cool and calm" he is on and off the field, and someone hyping up his Football IQ. In fact there's no evidence that his football IQ is any higher than any other QB...this has everything to do with his image. Patrick Mahomes is the most popular and probably the best player in the league and he has none of this corny stuff on his page...nobody does. It sounds more like a Legacy section...which he shouldn't have yet in his 4th season... 50.219.202.242 (talk) 01:38, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes the source that you already have listed for the record shows that he doesn’t hold the record 98.172.152.46 (talk) 02:59, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It’s not a 3 way tie…the website only rounds to the nearest tenth. It’s listed in the correct order on the website and you can confirm it yourself with a calculator. Divide total completions over pass attempts. 98.172.152.46 (talk) 03:01, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There’s a very specific reason that they list Jimmy G, Burrow, then Brees in that order even though they all round to 67.7. It should take 30 seconds to confirm it yourself 98.172.152.46 (talk) 03:04, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You’re leaving false info up purposely allowing rounded numbers to make them equal. They’re not listed in that order for alphabetical reasons. Here’s another source where they’re listed in the same order and their career completions and attempts are listed so you can confirm that this is the proper order. Jimmy G is ranked number 1. https://www.footballdb.com/leaders/career-passing-completionpct 98.172.152.46 (talk) 04:16, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
