Spelling[edit]

The spelling Söering is mistaken. His family name is Söring. In US-ASCII environments Germans substitute ö by oe "Soering" but you can never mix both up. Pronunciation is simular to French œ. Archäopath (talk) 14:26, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, his family name is Söring. But the "oe"-transcription for umlaut "ö" is not restricted tu US-ASCII-use. In Germany, "oe" for "ö" is still used in personal names for example, and in any alphabetically-sorted list, terms with "ö" are sorted by "oe", "ä" by "ae", "ü" by "ue". So that transcription is rare but common in Germany. As most other countries don't even use the umlauts, they may choose he spelling they are most comfortable with, some keyboards don't even have them. If someone spells their name with an ö, you use oe *ONLY* if you cannot type/write an ö. Because some people do actually spell their names with oe. Most famously Goethe. --2A02:8071:229A:AB00:29EA:85DC:6302:E51B (talk) 23:47, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

This is nonsense. Jens Soering has not been incarcerated for this crime since 1986. The trial was in 1989.Eregli bob (talk) 03:04, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This entire article is biased and incomplete. It dwells on all alleged (and debunked) alleged "irregularities" but barely mentions the overwhelming incriminating evidence. Here is a good piece that reviews the actual evidence and the events leading to Soring's release: https://quillette.com/2020/03/08/fabricated-innocence-the-self-exoneration-and-re-incrimination-of-jens-soering/?fbclid=IwAR0dBReaRFgywO0F0-b2FM953-9LWaLN2uddI3RLnsvL4P12CI80naaB7lg Joeywahoo (talk) 10:35, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Trial footage[edit]

Is there any significant trial footage available or who has the rights? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.244.65.62 (talk) 01:43, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

where imprisoned?[edit]

There is a table which includes "Criminal status", which is listed as "Incarcerated in Brunswick Correctional Center".

But in the article, I find this:

"He is currently serving his sentence at the Buckingham Correctional Center in Dillwyn, Virginia."

Please fix the discrepancy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 18:10, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What subject did he study?[edit]

The article does only mention where he studied not what, is there anything known? 31.16.16.237 (talk) 18:03, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Article on double murder[edit]

Why isn't there a Murders of Derek and Nancy Haysom article? The double murder is more notable than the killers are. Jim Michael (talk) 15:37, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. A notable case. Where is it? Flight Risk (talk) 04:46, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
More notable by whose standards? Also, if you had read the article you would know that it seems very unlikely that Söring really was the killer. 79.201.174.136 (talk) 21:39, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
