Not such a hero[edit]

J.F. gets a much poorer and a by far more nuanced review in Daniel P. Summerfield's From Falashas to Ethiopian Jews: The External Influences for Change c. 1860-1960 (PhD thesis, London U. 1997; published by Routledge in their Jewish Studies Series, 2003+11+17, ISBN 9780415593038).
