The result of the move request was: moved. Enough sources demonstrating a switch to the "JT" spelling were found for us to follow suit. (closed by non-admin page mover)Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 20:59, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

J.T. BrubakerJT BrubakerBaseball Reference, MLB.com, and ESPN have his name without the periods. MainPeanut (talk) 20:51, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 15:50, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Plenty of articles here have the name without the periods. MainPeanut (talk) 15:24, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? Graham (talk) 01:40, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support The older sources use periods for "J.T.", but the newer sources ([1][2]) use "JT" without the periods. It would appear to be his preference and is common enough in the sources. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:10, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Pure variation on style. Our house style is as currently. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:33, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Necrothesp: If we were to conform to our house style, shouldn't the initials be spaced per MOS:SPACEINITS? Graham (talk) 23:13, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
They should indeed. I hadn't actually noticed they weren't. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:12, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Either J. T. or JT per above discussion. Graham (talk) 03:00, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Orthography note[edit]

In case the topic of "JT" vs "J T" vs "J.T." vs "J. T." comes up again, I'll preemptively share the Language Log post that shows the AP and other styles respecting variant name orthography preferences. (As much as you or I may think a great deal of it is just blatant pretentiousness, unless it's what you grew up using.) SamuelRiv (talk) 20:12, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
