The Java Document Object Model article page contains poor code examples on how to use the JDOM API to dump JDOM trees to an XML file. There is no code example of how the XMLOutputter object "outputter" gets linked to the Element object "root." This code example needs to be cleaned up. In the mean time, I am adding a link to the main Wikipedia article to a strong IBM DeveloperWorks article on JDOM.

JDOM Maintainer[edit]

I'm a maintainer of the JDOM project.

I have (now) read the wiki guidelines, and realized that my editing of this page will likely be considered a conflict-of-interest. On the other hand, this page is 'stale' and no longer represents the state of the JDOM project (I recently updated the latest release details, for example).

My intentions will be only to update the information on this page with respect to the state of the JDOM project, keep the facts accurate, to monitor this page, and to fix it's current 'howto' nature. After a long period of 'stability' the JDOM project is soon to be significantly updated, and I am just trying to get all the JDOM related information consistent and 'clean'. I don't anticipate any major changes until JDOM 2 is released at which point a lot of the information will be outdated.

This is not exactly a 'controversial', or even a high-traffic page, so I don't anticipate a huge flock of impartial editors are going to suddenly swoop in and apply changes that are Talk'ed about as described in the 'WP:COI' page, but, if that does happen (great) then I will be happy to just discuss changes and let impartial editors apply them as appropriate.

In the interim I will make every effort to be as neutral as possible, but will defer to any criticisms or comments about any changes, and would be happy to 'back off' if there's an issue.
