O'Dwyer rankings[edit]

This article, while mentioning the O'Dwyer rankings, makes no mention of the controversy in the industry about them. There are accusations that this is not a ranking of any substance and is, instead, essentially, a pay for play scheme. Gawker referred to O'Dwyer's rankings as extortion. One of the largest agencies, Waggener Edstrom, refused to pay one year and were threatened and harassed by O'Dwyer. O'Dwyer continues the practice to this day as reported by insider blog prnewser, a publication of MediaBistro. O'Dwyer refuses to include any entity in this "ranking" that does not first provide a payment. There are questions as to whether this is in accordance with journalistic standards.Grammarphobe (talk) 02:35, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
