Article cleanup

In these edits by myself and AussieLegend, we've brought the article (largely due to his efforts) back a little closer to MOS:TV standards. In my edits, I restored character descriptions that were inexplicably removed by an IP editor. We also brought the sub-section headings back into consistency with other MOS:TV-compliant articles. We organize cast by Main and Recurring, not by Main and Additional. "Additional" is vague and tends to invite crufty additions like one-off characters. We're not interested in one-off characters, we're interested in main, and recurring. We also use "level 3 headings" for these subsections, (formatted like ==Main cast==) not with "pseudo headings" (formatted like ;Main cast). Please see WP:BADHEAD. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:41, 12 August 2016 (UTC)

Just noting that the edits we made applied to the Manual of Style in general, and not specifically MOS:TV. --AussieLegend () 06:58, 12 August 2016 (UTC)

Additi Gupta and Ankit Raj don't fall in the main cast of ishqbaaaz. They are newly added antagonists. Please change this immediately. Officialmars (talk) 16:48, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

Parentheticals are never the way to go.

In this edit I have again removed the sloppy parentheticals and restored normal prose punctuation, i.e. commas the the cast writeup. I'm not sure what the obsession is with parentheticals across these Indian TV articles, but it makes the article look messy and it is not the appropriate way to present content. If there is a disagreement about this, the talk page is the place to discuss. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:29, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

Aditi and Ankit are not main cast. Stop posting nonsense and unconfirmed stuff on your page. Only Surbhi and Nakuul are the main casts of the show 96.250.4.166 (talk) 18:15, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

Additi Gupta, Ankit Raj, and Danish Pandor are no longer part of the cast (They were never main cast). They were cameos. Please move Additi Gupta, Ankit Raj, and Danish Pandor from "Main Cast" section to "Guest Stars" section.

Danish Pandor was not Annika's Ex Fiance (He never was engaged to her), nor was he Shivaay's friend, He was planted by Ragini, So I don't know what you would call that.)

Ragini and Vikram were Parallel Antagonists.

Ankit Raj had a short cameo on three-four episodes of Ishqbaaaz, his cameo finished first.

Additi Gupta, and Danish Pandor cameo ended together.

Please change "Guest Stars" section to "Former Cast" section.

Thank you so much! 2001:56A:73B3:2700:B42F:2312:EE6C:E331 (talk) 01:16, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

@SparklingPessimist: This wasn't a sourcing issue. A TV series can be used as its own source. For things that are fairly non-contentious, like whether or not someone was part of the main cast (which would be verifiable from the onscreen credits) I tend to trust editors familiar with the series. Hi there IPv6 editor. Please see this edit.
  • Please move Additi Gupta, Ankit Raj, and Danish Pandor from "Main Cast" section to "Guest Stars" section. -  Done
  • Danish Pandor was not Annika's Ex Fiance (He never was engaged to her), nor was he Shivaay's friend -  Done - Details removed
  • Ragini and Vikram were Parallel Antagonists -  Not done - We don't use subjective labels like "parallel antagonist" in TV articles. Whatever the character's role is, it should be clear from well-written prose. See List of Millennium characters for an example of how this is done. Unfortunately, few people who edit Indian film articles seem interested in contributing according to community standards.
  • Ankit Raj had a short cameo on three-four episodes of Ishqbaaaz, his cameo finished first. -  Not done - Unclear what change you want made.
  • Additi Gupta, and Danish Pandor cameo ended together. -  Not done - Unclear what change you want made.
  • Please change "Guest Stars" section to "Former Cast" section. -  Not done - "Former cast" has never been a valid subsection of cast. Cast members do not cease to be of academic interest just because they've left. The guidelines for how cast should be organised in TV articles is at WP:TVCAST. If a character had a recurring role, they belong in the Recurring cast section. If they were part of the main cast as determined by producers / onscreen credits, they belong in the Main cast section. Guest stars are an entirely different matter, and we typically don't include guest stars in cast lists, we include them in episode lists, but again, since there are so few episode lists in Indian TV articles, we probably should maintain the guest star list for the time being.

Former and Guest Cast/Stars

I’ve moved only Barun Sobti and Bareilly Cast to Guest Stars because they were in Ishqbaaz for promotions. Others like Nehalaxmi Iyer, Navina Bole etc they had important roles in the show be it ex-girlfriend or ex-wife and so on. They are no longer part of the show; that’s why they are former cast. Please see to it that if you think the reasoning is good, make sure it stays this way. Thank you. Harper04 (talk) 09:35, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

@Harper04: Wikipedia cares about the entire history of a television series, not just the current information. We do not dump cast members into a discard pile like "Former cast", as we still have an academic interest in their prominence in the series, when they were featured, why they left, etc. The goal for this section is not a raw cast list, it's something more like List of Millennium characters. See WP:TVCAST. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:38, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
@Harper04: Oh, and if there were cast members who were obviously just guest starring for promotional reasons, feel free to move them to the guest star list. Using clear edit summaries will help other editors understand your changes. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:44, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Plot need to be update

Dear Admin,

Can you please update the section of Three months later. Because Reader want to read the present story . As result its need to be update. Thank you. Siddiq Sazzad (talk) 22:37, 01 October 2017 (UTC)

@Siddiqsazzad001: That entire section Plot should not exceed 500 words, and should remain focused on the general shape of the series, not on episode-by-episode details. So what solution do you propose? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:40, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb I propose that if you make more smaller the story then it may be possible. Thank you. Siddiq Sazzad (talk) 23:57, 01 October 2017 (UTC)
@Siddiqsazzad001: If you want to take a stab at making it shorter, feel free to do so. I don't see that you are currently prohibited from making changes. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:31, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

clutches ? you may be mistaken here as clutches are for automobiles to turn gears? you may be thinking of "crutches", a common medical device used by those that cannot balance on both feet as they walk. Unless of course you mean the woman's assessory used to keep private various items when going about town, usually formal evening events when a purse is too bulky. 2605:E000:9161:A500:3832:5234:5BA4:7DB6 (talk) 02:14, 6 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi there, IP editor. Thanks for your suggestions. I've made most of the changes here. I think they were a little semi-colon-heavy, so I adjusted accordingly. There was still some ambiguity about the "young Oberois ploy". Unclear what the ploy was. The fight? The falling and memory loss? The bigger note is that the section needs a massive cut. It should only be 500 words long and it should describe the overall shape of the series, not be focused on episode-by-episode revelations. We typically use episode lists and summaries for that, but nobody ever creates those for Indian TV series. In the future if you could avoid adding multiple edit requests as you did, that would be appreciated. So long as nobody has responded to one of your posts, you can combine your requests and just sign once at the bottom. I've combined your multiple posts into one section. If you can figure out a way to condense the plot section, that'd be very helpful. Thanks and regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:23, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
I really do not understand why it is necessary to protect this particular article. If it were not protected then I could edit direct instead of the proscribed manner. Until that is done there really is not much more I can do except to suggest edits where indicated. Of course there is a tremendous amound of detail that is not necessary and if I was editing direct I would have done so instead of the smaller steps taken. Unfortunately, when it comes to protected articles there seems to be some that take an offense to what is suggested. That is yhe major reason why larger more drsstic cuts were not suggested. More suggested cut to follow unless the article is open from protection. And no I do not jhave any intention of registering so that is not a solution.2605:E000:9161:A500:3832:5234:5BA4:7DB6 (talk) 05:31, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
It may not be looked at as a tool but the seni colon very much can be a very useful tool when condensing oversized article segments such as plots.2605:E000:9161:A500:3832:5234:5BA4:7DB6 (talk) 05:33, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
It's necessary to protect the article because editors, many of them random IPs with no awareness of community expectations, have made a mess. The cast section keeps getting pulled out of conformity with MOS:TV, ("Former cast" is not a valid subsection, for instance) and ironically, page protection was requested by this guy, who wound up being blocked for MOS violations. If you're someone who wants to edit here in earnest, you might consider setting up an account and making enough edits to be autoconfirmed, provided there are no previous sanctions that you might be avoiding, which, sadly, is also a reason why Indian entertainment articles get protected. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:12, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
Do you actually read people's responses? I did not make my previous statement for the mere joy of it and then to be told makes me believe that advanced WP editors do not listen and instead view everyone as a predator. That really is not much of a welcome and now perhaps I am viewed as hostile. No wonder why there seems to be such resentment when WP is brought up at cocktail parties. I guess then that regardless how many requests it takes that this will be the route.2605:E000:9161:A500:3832:5234:5BA4:7DB6 (talk) 08:17, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
You expressed confusion about why the article is protected, so I explained it to you. If you keep adding multiple edit requests, your requests will be responded to by other editors in a far slower manner, and/or not at all. It's kind of you to volunteer your time, but please keep in mind that the people (not just me) who might be responding to your edit requests are also volunteering their time. Issues Fixed

Hi Cyphoidbomb,

I fixed issues of Recurring cast section. Now Can I remove the template message?

And a important question. Can I replace the "Plot" section to "Synopsis" section? And make the it short summary.
