Separate article[edit]

There really isn't enough information here to have an article that won't overlap with the information available in crown and bridge. I'm going to redirect there, where there is already a significant section on inlays and onlays and their indications for treatment. Crown and bridge also contains a lengthy discussion on the lost wax technique, which applies equally to gold inlays and onlays, and also refers to CAD/CAM technology, which is also applicable to inlays and onlays. Perhaps this article can be restarted when the crown and bridge article reaches near or virtual completion and the different members of fixed prosthodontics and operative dentistry can be sorted more properly. In reference to the lost wax technique, the article called "lost-wax casting" should be sufficient to address the issue, and may not need to be written verbatim in any relevant articles. Nonetheless, a summary of the important points of the article can be mentioned in all the relevant articles with a template showing the reader the main article to go to for more information. I think that would be best, instead of directing a reader to another subject which may be associated with the lost wax technique. - Dozenist talk 03:05, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the statement telling the reader to go to the crown article for more information. If for any reason the lost-wax casting article is insufficient for dental purposes, more detailed explanation can be added to that article. If for some reason, that is a problem, then we would need to look into another avenue, such as explaining the technique in all applicable articles or creating a new article focused solely on the lost wax technique as how it relates to dentistry, but I cannot see why dental-related info could be added the lost-wax casting article. - Dozenist talk 03:12, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
