Birth and Death Dates; encouraged women and girls to play instruments; sister is also noted musician[edit]

I am not an editor, and have no plans to become one. I hope that some actual editor will see this and implement it.

Since Pak Suweca died today, I looked up this information.

His birthdate was December 31, 1948 -- Not "the 1950s". (The birthplace is correct.)

Died May 23, 2023, age 75, in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, of complications from diabetes.

IMPORTANT ADDITION TO THE ARTICLE: He was one of the first Balinese music composers/teachers to encourage women and girls to play instruments, previously a purely male prerogative. He started this in his own family. His sister, whose name escapes me at the moment, is also a noted Balinese composer/performer and, like Pak Suweca, is a master of the Gamelan Gender Wayang.

(The part about him encouraging women and girls is in one of the sources below ... which also mentions that he was inspired to do so by the women he saw performing in Berkeley's Gamelan Sekar Jaya, which he co-founded.)

(The part about his family and his sister is from my personal knowledge ... but I'm sure the information must be out there on the internet at some reliable source.)
