"Korea's Little Sister"

That's just a title for any young female celebrity in Korea. Kim Yu-na and others have had that "title," it's nothing special as far as IU is concerned.

http://www.dramabeans.com/2007/12/korea-has-a-new-little-sister/

And anyway, seems like she's lost the title:

Somebody should include her Starcraft 2 announcing gig.

Inclusion of someone "NOTABLE?"

Starting of an article on Korean Singer, IU. She hasn't gotten a page, even though she's been gaining more and more attention recently in entertainment industry of South Korea. Give some time to start writing the rest of her background; as well as her tracklist of her two albums please. (ShushKebab (talk) 12:58, 18 September 2009 (UTC))

I'll also like to point out, she's actually quite a notable artist within the Korean Entertainment industry, in particular due to her young age and vibrant voice. She's since gained much praises from many other singers - as well having worked with other esteem artists. (ShushKebab (talk) 11:19, 19 September 2009 (UTC))

I agree with ShushKebab's opinion--Park6354 (talk) 01:16, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Place of birth

Recently, someone had changed IU's place of birth from Seoul to Gwangju. This made me realize that this information was never cited in the first place and so I removed it. It is currently set to just "South Korea", however, this is still uncited and by Wikipedia standards, not valid. Knowing she is a South Korean performer, I felt it was within reason to leave it on the page though... If I'm incorrect, please remove it.

Before adding a more specific place of birth, a legitimate source must be found to cite the information from. I presume the best places to look are Korean-language profile websites (for example, IU's Nate Profile though I was unable to find anything myself.

For references to other biographical articles with cited birth places, see some other popular celebrities like Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson, and Jessica Jung. The place of birth is often cited in the opening paragraph. Michaelcomella (talk) 02:28, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Fixed This has been solved and cited. Michaelcomella (talk) 20:48, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
Or not... According to her Korean Wikipedia page, "아이유는 1993년 5월 16일 경기도 광주시 송정동에서 태어났으며..." which is Gwangju, Gyeonggi. The reference mentions her fan cafe (note that I can't translate well enough to understand it entirely) which makes me question its reliability. Her birthplace on the English Wikipedia is listed as Seoul, as she mentioned it on an episode of Running Man - this could have been a generalization though as Gwangju is quite close to Seoul. Can anyone identify her the Korean Wiki article is accurate? Michaelcomella (talk) 21:49, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
Apparently IU was born and was raised in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, per http://www.ohkpop.com/21677/ius-family-history-what-made-it-possible-for-iu-to-become-the-iu-today. However, it has also been suggested that she was born in neighboring Gwangju, Gyeonggi. If anyone finds a better reference, please add the birthplace with that reference. Thanks. Childhood

Should we add in her early days before her debut as a singer. Most biographies includes one, so i thought it would be fitting to make one for IU too. Her Korean wikipage do include one as well, should we make it more consistent? She has talked quite a bit about her past too. Her backstory is also quite motivating, to me at least. I do think we should include one, just that i am not good enough to make one on my own. EquilLoL (talk) 12:46, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
