Lawsuit[edit]

I've restored the lawsuit info that Abrazame deleted: I find the rationale behind that edit - "Lawsuits without merit are undue weight in brief Wiki articles" - to be invalid given the concise manner in which I have described the matter which I do feel is pertinent background to the subject of the article. The edit seems to be based on personal feelings rather than Wikipedia rules. If anyone disagrees I would hope that they would escalate the matter appropriately rather than just re-delete.--Cherrylimerickey (talk) 19:05, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The upshot of the lawsuit was that Bolton and James had not met Branigan prior to their writing of this song; Branigan did not receive writing credit on the song and in fact did not receive writing credit on the vast majority of her releases, because in point of fact she did not fundamentally influence or alter the composition. So the lawsuit is a newsy factoid of undue weight; while it may strike you as being about this song since it was brought against this song's writers and performer, it is not actually about this song, it's about a completely different song that apparently by sheer coincidence sounded a lot alike. We live in a litigious society; it's not generally relevant to a brief Wiki article or biography which lawsuits were brought against whom, particularly when they were found, as I wrote in my edit summary, to be without merit. This lawsuit is not actually relevant to an understanding of the subject; in fact, noting a failed lawsuit gives it and its litigant undue weight and unreasonable association to a song which apparently they had nothing to do with, and so it gives a misunderstanding of the subject.
An aside, though to the point of your perspective given your characterization of personal feelings, you made me smile with your assertion that 137 words is a "concise" description even if it weren't such an irrelevant factoid. In fact, the paragraph you added about this other song, which doesn't belong here at all, became the largest paragraph in the article. In fact, the addition was equal to about two-thirds of the text previously dedicated to Branigan's introduction of the actual song that is this article's subject. Cover of the Michael Bolton single[edit]

The replacement was attempted but then reverted. Also, the replacement file, currently PRODded, is incorrectly tagged as CC-BY-SA 4.0 but lacks permission. I notified the editor who uploaded the image. If anyone has issues with the image(s), please do not hesitate to comment. George Ho (talk) 11:20, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Lawsuit (redux)[edit]

I didn't realize that there was a previous discussion about the lawsuit before I added the lawsuit but in different writing. I just reinserted the lawsuit in order to make the Branigan version more notable than it would. Actually, I thought about making the Bolton version more prominent and putting Branigan's version into the background and trimming down some info. Here's a 2010 revision, just in case. --George Ho (talk) 05:06, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Musicians in the song ?[edit]

I would like to know who were the musicians in this song especially the guitar solo one ? 175.158.135.102 (talk) 00:02, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
