55 Chevy Panel

Added some stuff about this model, Mattel printed on the back of the cards that this would be a limited production model.

Updated

I updated some of the Treasure Hunt info, Mattel has always refused to say how many TH have been made so no one really knows. For all we know there could be 100,000 of them or as little as 25,000. We just dont know. I also updated the Rear Loading Beach Bomb info it was missing some information as well as the Drag Bus information had some errors.

Strauss and links

I have updated some information about Mike Strauss and the conventions although I think these should be moved to their own section at some point I just dont have the time right now to do it. I did link to his newsletter and nationals website.

Added information about Hot Wheels Collectors

I've added some basic information about Hot Wheels collectors this should at least get it started.

Shogun Racers

I say that Shogun Racers shouldn't even be merged in Hot Wheels. Delete Shogun Racers. They're not even notable in the Hot Wheels World.

Lack of headings

This page had too big an introductory section. What it had were definate paragraphs about single topics, in the interest of attempting to meet the wiki style guide I dropped some section headings in.

It could do with a bit of substance to show that in it's current form it only discussed Hot Wheels in USA (possibly Canada as well? I can't quite tell). They are also widely available internationally however "I think" generally they are toys first collectibles well and truely second (although, I admin, I have been suprised to see the prices on mint in box units at garage sales & markets). External Links

I have removed external links to discussion forums as they are a violation of WP:EL. -- MakeChooChooGoNow 19:59, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

The Hot Wheels logo on the article is 2 years outdated. Could someone upload the current version of the logo? I would myself, but I can't find one that's high enough quality.Hotwheels53 14:09, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Notable cars

Took out Passion and Dairy Delivery in notable cars section. Neither of these are notable for any reason. Yes they are cool and somewhat popular there is nothing notable about them. They arent limited edition nor special in any way and used regularly for main line cars.ArizonaGeek 19:26, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Purple Passion is seen as one of the turning points in Hot Wheels design; it was one of the first castings that wasn't expected to perform on track. I'll try to remember to find cites when I'm home. Dairy Delivery can be left out--I added it mainly because the section was looking too sparse after I removed the even-less-notable Excavator and Vector WX-3. 65.241.160.10 18:33, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

The Purple Passion was just another design by Larry Wood if there was any real turning point at all with Hot Wheels it would be Treasure Hunts as a whole. In fact in almost 40 years there are really two destinct turning points with Hot Wheels, taking redlines off the wheels and introducing Treasure Hunts. The Excavator was notable in that it was released as a first edition and then pulled to use as a filler for the Matchbox line. So it is notable. IN fact if you really want to start getting notable cars, the white enamel Custom Camaro is notable, the Herfy's van is notable, Purple Custom Cougar with black roof, the Cheetah (which was renamed the Python before production), all the employee Christmas cars, there are tons of notable cars that are far more notable than the very common Passion. Just remember "like" and "notable" are two different things. ArizonaGeek 17:22, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Car values

Stop putting values of cars in this. This is supposed to be valid information about the product. If people want values they can buy the books mentioned or do their own research. Values change every day and because a car is "worth" something today doesnt mean it will be tomorrow! ArizonaGeek 19:26, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Hot Wheels as a collectable

Took out this section as it is just a repeat (and added, useless information) of the section Hot Wheels Collectors below. Took out the part about the Antiques Roadshow, although it was a fun show to watch it really has nothing to do with the information about Hot Wheels. The collectors section points out cars can be collectable. It's old information anyway. Any serious collector knows where to get the information, anyone not collecting doesnt care. Pictures

I am going to update a bunch of the pictures soon. I have to find the time to edit my pics. ArizonaGeek 19:38, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

The Drag Bus orgins?

Just wanted to add my 2 cents.. I came up with the concept I believe, and may have been the catylist to the creation of the model. Ok, so I have no proof.. But it is just wierd how back around 2004 or early 2005 I was a senior in high school. They had internet access to what little existed of the internet back then. I frequented some popular rec. model car site back then and they had a poll on what you would like to see a model kit made of. I didn't like the choices so I entered my own, VW DRAG BUS. The rest is history... User:Slythorne hwdon@yahoo.com

I'll probably be sorry I asked this but if "VW Drag Bus was first offered as a 1996 First Edition" how could you have suggested it in 2004? --MarsRover 04:40, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Highway 35

Currently Hot Wheels Highway 35 World Race is a redirect to Hot Wheels World Race. However, there is also a Hot Wheels Highway 35 World Race (film) linked in form here. I don't know enough about the topic to resolve this (I'm popping over from Nikola Tesla in popular culture where I was alerted to this) but wanted to highlight the issue so someone more knowledgable can help resolve the issue. Cheers. (Emperor 13:57, 2 January 2007 (UTC))

Planet Hot Wheels

What Happened to that game? Where did it go?Pendo 4 21:14, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

It was an online game that was unfortunately taken down after Highway 35/World Race was discontinued. Stuff on the Internet rarely lasts forever. HotWheels(53) Talk 18:27, 13 March 2007

Huh? What is Highway 35/World Race? 65.10.162.44 11:59, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

It was a special line of 35 Hot Wheels cars made in 2003 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Hot Wheels. There was also a video game and movie based around the cars. The 3-D racing game on Planet Hot Wheels was also based around World Race. HotWheels(53) Talk 14:17, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Is there any possible way to get tho play Planet Hotwheels by hacking or something?72.144.84.169 23:50, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

I doubt it. It seems to have been completely deleted. Archive.org doesn't have it either. HotWheels(53) Talk 14:05, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

So there is NO way to play Planet Hotwheels?? NOT ONE WAY??? NOT EVEN A 1 in a 99999999999999999999999999 way to some how get it and play?

Two suggestions: Google it or maybe contact Mattel. I can't help you any further, and Wikipedia probably isn't the best place to ask about this. There are lots of Hot Wheels discussion forums out there, you might try one of those. Good luck! HotWheels(53) Talk 23:13, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

A Hot Wheels Wikipedia

I noticed the lists of 1997 and 1998 Hot Wheels cars are going to be deleted. They probably don't really fit on Wikipedia. However, I had an idea for a Wikipedia devoted entirely to Hot Wheels and related subjects. Such articles could be moved there. I have the resources to host it on my website with the MediaWiki software (so it would look a lot like Wikipedia), but there's no way I could put it together and manage it by myself.

There are several examples of fan-created WIKIs on specific subjects that are going quite well. One example is Brickwiki, an encyclopedia with articles related to LEGO.

If there's any Hot Wheels collectors and experienced Wikipedia editors that would like to help, please let me know by replying here, on my talk page, or by E-mailing me. --HotWheels(53) Talk 19:01, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

I got the articles back!Pendo 4 19:59, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Excellent. I'd still like to get a Hot Wheels encyclopedia going, would you be interested in helping me, Pendo? HotWheels(53) Talk 23:16, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

I would help. Now the Hot Wheels lists are in danger of being deleted. -AMK152(TalkContributionsSend message) 19:36, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Great! We now have a total of three people interested in contributing- myself, Pendo 4, and AMK152. I'll get Media Wiki installed to my site ASAP so we can get started. HotWheels(53) Talk 14:17, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
What about requesting a Wikia? -AMK152(TalkContributionsSend message) 20:05, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, good idea, I hadn't thought of that. That would be a lot easier than running it off my server. I submitted the request form earlier today. It would be great if you could show your support there. HotWheels(53) Talk 01:42, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

As I see AMK152 has noticed, the Hot Wheels Wiki is now open! It is located at hotwheels.wikia.com. My username there is Canal Noises. Edit away! HotWheels(53) Talk 15:47, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Lists

I have an idea for the lists pages, perhaps we should organized them in table form like this:

# Car Name Series # Type
Collector Number Car Name First Edition #/##. T-Hunt #/12, etc. First Editions, T-Hunts, series name, etc.

-AMK152(TalkContributionsSend message) 01:26, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

That looks good. Because the articles are going to be deleted (and I honestly can't think of a good argument to keep them :/), I suggest we wait to reformat the pages until we get the Hot Wheels Wiki up and running. HotWheels(53) Talk 01:44, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Everything old is new again ...

So I'm walking thru Target the other day. looking for some area rugs. As we pass the toy aisles, out of the corner of my eye, I spot a familiar box. OMG! It's a Sizzler! Apparently, Mattel thinks it's 1969 and has re-released everything. The Juice Machine (or whatever the 4-D-cell gas pump was called), the 2-D-cell belt clip charger, the cars, even Fat Track. The coolest thing is, they seem to be using the exact same artwork as when they were originally released nearly 40 years ago. Way cool!

Just thought I'd share.  :-) --plaws 17:42, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Bill Cushenbery

I changed the spelling from "Cushenberry" to "Cushenbery." The former is a common mis-spelling of the name. 76.88.234.97 (talk) 05:15, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Katella Gate

France other countries

No mention of France and other countries where cars have been made. France notably made cars witha European theme, like the Renault 5, Peugeot 505 and Fiat Ritmo.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.97.246.56 (talk) 17:33, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
