Josei?[edit]

Is the manga of Honey and Clover written as a Josei (think shoujo for older females)? Considering it was published in Josei magazines, I would assume that way. Brought this up due to an edit:

"23:33, July 14, 2006 Ned Scott (Talk | contribs) (rv, Josei itself seems to not even be verifiable. I would very much disagree that H&C was written for mostly females, unless someone has any comments from the creators/ writers/ etc)"

I'm willing to categorize it as Josei personally. --Wirbelwind 07:17, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is a josei series: there is no question to that fact. It is serialised in josei magazines, it airs in a josei timeslot, what more is needed to show that the series might just be josei? Elric of Grans 01:12, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Marketing towards female viewers isn't the same as being josei. The two can go hand in hand, but that alone doesn't place it in that genre. Do women enjoy the show? probably, but that's not the point. -- Ned Scott 03:51, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Honey and Clover fits the criteria for Josei. The fact that guys enjoy it as well does not change that. _dk 03:57, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, else girls wouldn't like Chobits or Kenshin etc and guys wouldn't like Fruits Basket. --Wirbelwind 04:13, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I guess this looks more like I don't have a good understanding of what josei means. I'm going to trust you guys on this one, sorry for the confusion :) -- Ned Scott 07:23, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Make Honey and Clover A rated![edit]

Who wants to tackle on this big project? I'm hoping that with enough contributors, this article can be rated "A" and maybe even "Featured Article".
I'm willing to tackle this, and I'll probably be doing this sometime in the future:
Episode Guide for seasons I and II
Manga summaries for all the manga chapters
Extended character bios
Differences between anime and manga

--Piffleprincess 05:06, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to help, but I've not read the manga. --Wirbelwind 19:00, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think these are great ideas and would like to contribute, and I'm offering a few suggestions for the list of episodes: (i) titling of article = "List of Honey and Clover episodes", where I also think (ii) the summaries of episodes of both seasons, plus the two OVA, combined within the same article. If you think these are good ideas, then this article can be started right away. Ganryuu (talk) 14:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm...I've noticed that some info from the second season has been added. However, the character bios seem (or are) incomplete. Has anyone seen the second season? I only know what's going on from all the anime blogs. If anyone has seen it, why don't you add all the info you know into the bios? That, or delete any incomplete information. Things seem to be randomly added in some places, and all the bios are messy and confusing (sorry for the bluntness). We should create an episode guide, and seriously shorten the bios. Or add everything there is into the bios. I vote for the episode guide. Sumhtun 06:19, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If no one objects, I can start the episode list on a separate page. Magus Melchior 23:12, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, anyway, I've started a draft; also moved to the name suggested above by Ganryuu. Magus Melchior 08:17, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There's a lot to do. The grammar in this article is atrocious right now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mnealon (talkcontribs) 06:40, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hagu and Shuji[edit]

Hagu's father is Shuji's cousin. That doesn't make her Shuji's niece. Or is it different in the anime? I only have the manga in hand right now - can anyone verify?--Mikeats 17:47, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I got my DVD's back so I checked - it's the same in the anime as well. So I'm going to fix all the uncle-niece references in the article.--Mikeats 00:09, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if you're all caught up to the ending, we'd better hope they're not related... --Iriseyes 23:30, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why the name of Honey and Clover?[edit]

What relation exist between honey and clover? I don't get it What does it have to do with the story? can someone tell me, thanks

--Jankie2000 3:05, June 7 2008
IIRC (I think the author wrote it in the manga somewhere), it's because of Spitz (band)'s 1995 album Hachimitsu, and Shikao Suga's 1997 album, Clover. Songs from both bands were also prominently used in the anime. Um, the article already says this, see Honey and Clover#Outline. Hachimitsu is "honey", btw. --Wirbelwindヴィルヴェルヴィント (talk) 04:25, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's more of a symbolic name I guess, but the "honey and clover part" is at the very end of the story (or at least the anime, could anyone verify this for the manga?).

One of the most popular forms of monofloral honey comes from bees which feed on clover plant nectar. So I'd agree that it's symbolic, in this case based on the intertwined and interdependent nature of bees and clover plants: one is essential to the other: bees fertilize plants, plants feed bees. Youtube links[edit]

I'm trying to establish the source in which it was commented that Suga Shikao is the model for Mayama. My Japanese isn't that great, but the clip showed that Suga acknowledge this fact, and I really don't want to cite this info taken from the Japanese Wikipedia.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Piffleprincess (talkcontribs) 20:11, 10 June 2007.

Youtube links (nor from any website) containing such copyrighted media cannot be included into articles, as was the case here, so they should be avoided whenever possible. Since the DVD itself is an already published material, it can be used as a reference itself to source/verify the statement. ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 22:56, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Manga characters... Should someone add them?[edit]

I think there is more characters in the manga than in the anime. Shouldn't someone add them in the article?

Chinese or Taiwanese TV live action adaptation?[edit]

I was browsing and stumbled across a Chinese or Taiwanese live action adaptation of Honey and Clover. It is airing in mid 2008. http://wiki.d-addicts.com/index.php?title=Honey_and_Clover&redirect=no Intranetusa (talk) 19:29, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As wiki's are not considered a reliable source, it should not be added here until it is confirmed by a reliable source. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 19:32, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, they do have official websites on the bottom. I can't read characters, but it seems to be legitimate. If you can read script, then feel free to see if the information is correct.

Intranetusa (talk) 01:01, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is legitimate. It's a Taiwanese adaptation by Chinese Television System (which is a Taiwanese broadcaster). _dk (talk) 02:04, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can someone please use those sites as references for the article, and possibly fill out information like production company, director, and the like? —Quasirandom (talk) 17:46, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Added in as much of the info as I can lift from those sites for the Taiwanese adaption, and also added more on the Japanese one. The section is still quite small... Any ideas on more information to use to expand them further? Astharis (talk) 03:41, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Article Issues Tag[edit]

This page doesn't seem to have many of the issues it was originally tagged for. It could use a couple of more references, but it looks like the rest of the article has been cleaned up with a plot summary appropriate in size to rest of the article. Just wondering what everyone else thinks about this. —FantajiFan (talk) 23:10, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The character section could use trimming down a little more, to follow the guidelines of WP:SS, and yes, more references. If the media sections were beefed up with more sourced details, and a reception section started -- in other words, adding non-plot information -- that would go the rest of the way to making it less plot-heavy. And get the article up to at least C class. I'm planning on tinkering with things this week. —Quasirandom (talk) 16:17, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of expanding: reception info[edit]

Here's a review of the first two volumes from ANN, for use in a Reception section once we get it going. —Quasirandom (talk) 17:47, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
