I propose to remove the paragraph beginning: "That summer, Wesleyan students were primary organizers of the Middlefield, or Powder Ridge Rock Festival...." "Student pharmacologists had become recognized for the quality of LSD produced at the school, and Doctor William Abruzzi declared a drug 'crisis' on 1 August and said 'Woodstock was a pale pot scene. This is a heavy hallucinogens scene.'[9] The concert was covered by The New York Times, and also written about by William Manchester." Notwithstanding the misleading syntax of the paragraph, there is no referenced proof that: i) Wesleyan students were organizers of this event (primarily or otherwise); ii) students at the University had become "recognized for the quality of LSD produced at the school"; iii) LSD or any hallucinogens were produced at the University (of any quality by any so-called student pharmacologist or other student); iv) University students attended the event; v) University students offered or supplied any LSD or hallucinogens at Powder Ridge. In fact, neither the referenced New York Times article nor the Wikipedia article--Middlefield, or Powder Ridge Rock Festival-makes any mention (directly or indirectly) of or allusion to Wesleyan or its students. Similarly, the quotes from Doctor William Abruzzi and William Manchester make no mention (directly or indirectly) of or allusion to Wesleyan or its students. Thus, although the paragraph gives the appearance that the New York Times article, the Wikipedia article, Doctor William Abruzzi, and William Manchester each supports every (or some) assertion made or implied about the University and its students, there is not a scintilla of support offered for these claims. It appears that the massive and infamous claims as to the University and its students were manufactured or are unverifiable urban legend attached to valid but irrelevant citations.
