Foreigners[edit]

Does the term "foreigners" refer here to guests who had accidentally been around when the population was counted or does it rather refer to people whose native language was not German? In the latter case, they will have had German nationality and should, therefore, not be called "foreigners". -Ziegenspeck (talk) 14:17, 9 December 2008 (UTC).[reply]

You are right. These were the tables used in the low developed West Prussia article. I introduced a sourced table I had done for the Prussian Settlement Commission article, though this one naturally focusses on ethnic composition rather than religion or what else would be intersting to know. Thank you for the citation, which confirms that this is not about the province of Pomerania (which is not equal to the region of Pomerania and during the Weimar Republic had no border with Greater Poland). Province of Pomerania is not in Pomorze ? Which Weimar Republic's province bordered Polish Pomerania then ? Also Szczecin with its 2000 strong Polish minority-in what province was it located.--Molobo (talk) 13:00, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One sided article completeling missing important aspects of history[edit]

The article is based almost solely on German sources and completely avoids mentioning the hundreds of thousands of Poles who constitued a huge percentage of population in the region. The article misses sections of Polish minority in the time of Prussia and German Empire and its situation. This needs to be changed for NPOV take on history of the region.--Molobo (talk) 13:02, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rene Konig on ethnic situation in Pomerania[edit]

B-class review: failed (major NPOV issues)[edit]

Reviewing this article for WP:POLAND B-class, I have to fail it, and I think there are serious issues here justifying the use of the NPOV tag. The article makes NO mention of Polish population in the region till WWI, with the exception of one short sentence on the 1900 ethnic composition. This is a major oversight. The article should properly present the history of the region, and the Polish minority (?). Article sthat should be mentioned: partitions of Poland, Germanisation_of_Poles_during_Partitions, Kulturkampf, Prussian_deportations, Drzymała's_wagon. Prussian_Settlement_Commission is mentioned, but for some strange reason, only in the interwar period. In the Free City of Danzig section, 95% of whom were German-speakers is referenced with a 1938 source; this should be vefiried with a more modern source. A number of sentences with controversial claims are missing a reference. Yes the article completely avoids mentioning Poles before interwar period(besides one sentence)-it gives impression they seemingly popped out of nowhere in previously German lands. But yes, this needs to be corrected to cover other non-German aspects of the region.Sadly it seems most Pomerania articles have this bias.--MyMoloboaccount (talk) 14:04, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is also a slight manipulation here-the history of the region is mixed up by history of the Prussian province, but after WW1 again goes to cover the whole region-this allows to hide Polish population pre-WW1 because they were minority in the province of Pommern, which of course didn't cover whole Pomerania. The best solution would be to trimm the passages about province Pommern which are already in the respected other article, and give region-wide history overview. Danzig - POV[edit]

The article doesn't explain that Poland needed Danzig harbor to be at least partially controllable. It was the only harbor until Gdynia harbor was constructed.Xx236 (talk) 11:50, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
