Are you sure it was written by Berns?[edit]

The following website lists it as written by Van Morrison for Them:

I don't know what their source is, but I've never known them to be wrong.

You must have read it wrong because the first sentence says: After producing and writing "Here Comes the Night" for Them, Bert Berns returned to America.....Agadant 16:06, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--- Here Comes the Night (Them song) → Here Comes the Night (Lulu song) – This is primarily a Lulu song, not a Them song. It was first done by Lulu, then covered by Them. Both records charted and are notable, but just because the covering band sold more copies doesn't mean that the song is primarily a Them song. Comment. The article relating to Them says that Bert Berns effectively wrote the song in the studio with the band, yet the article also claims that Lulu had a hit the year before! I also note that Bert Berns was supposed to have produced both recordings. Possible, but highly unlikely. I think it would be better to get the article right first, then think about the move. --Richhoncho (talk) 13:19, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comment. According to Them band member, Harrison, Them helped to develop the song when they recorded it first for Berns in October 1964. Lulu's version was rush released in November 1964. Bert Berns did produce both versions: "In a move that could have been sloppiness or just Berns and Decca Records trying to fire on all cylinders, Berns produced covers by both Lulu and Them around the same time; Them's superior version of this classic became the big hit, although Lulu's version was released slightly earlier." Response to Agadent. Thanks for bringing the allmusic stuff to our attention. This does suggest that the Them version is the first recorded version, if not the first released version. It would be nice if Trinitresque withdrew the nomination as per Tiggerjay's comment above - with leave to relist when the article is sorted. --Richhoncho (talk) 10:59, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. I don't think our guidelines really cover this unusual situation, where Lulu's version is nearly as notable and where there are other notable songs by the same name, but commonsense leaves it with Them IMO. A redirect from Here Comes the Night (Lulu song) would be very helpful IMO, and perhaps even its own line at the DAB at Here Comes the Night. Andrewa (talk) 22:15, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
