Move?[edit]

I suspect this may need to move to Henry Rowley Bishop to avoid confusion with the inventor of the postmark, or Henry Alfred Bishop or Henry W. Bishop or even Bishop Henry or other similar names --Rumping 23:51, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vital dates[edit]

This edit from 2019 changed his year of birth from 1756 to 1757, and his year of death from 1855 to 1856. Based entirely on his gravestone.

Gravestones are obviously interesting artifacts, but when the details engraved therupon differ from all the documentary evidence in reliable reference works, those details must be taken with a grain of salt. The cases where gravestone inscriptions are demonstrably wrong are legion. I'm surprised nobody has questioned this edit. I'd welcome a discussion of this. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 02:36, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It changed to 1787, who knows anymore. RandomEditorAAA (talk) 03:54, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
