BoB/BoW again[edit]

In season 12, 50.164.187.208 raised the issue of BoB/BoW. Unfortunately, the result of the discussion was inconclusive. We're only 3 episodes into this season and already the BoB/BoW situation has gotten out of control, with a minor edit war ongoing, and some quite ridiculous edits happening.[1] Clearly, we need to address this once and for all. Addition of BoB or BoW without a clear statement by Ramsay to the effect that the contestant was BoB or BoW constitutes original research in almost every case, so I'm proposing that we form a consensus to require addition of a citation of some form, whether it be via a hidden note or using {{cite episode}} with the |time= or |minutes= parameters, be required for every addition of BoB or BoW. To encourage discussion, I'm going to ping the participants in the other discussion, @AngusWOOF:, @Naraht:, and @Jnorton7558:. --AussieLegend () 17:42, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I recommend citations with timestamp and quote of what Ramsay said so that it is clear the praise has some reward (exemption from being nominated). If BoB and BoW is not used in the competition for the season, and he's just praising people, then leave it out. -AngusWOOF (talk) 17:54, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that without a clear statement from Ramsay that it should not be included. It seems like requiring a citation for each one is a good idea so that it can be verified easier. --Jnorton7558 (talk) 19:42, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. There *were* seasons where it did make a difference. I haven't seen the episode in question, but simple praise doesn't count. Yes, if Ramsey said "Everyone sucked except Mike and Bob" and the team puts up Mike and Bob then Ramsey will almost certainly call others out of line, but that would be OR as well...Naraht (talk) 19:48, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't really bothered to adjust any of the picks so far (did once, but it was changed back and I didn't feel like starting an edit war), but of the ones labeled, the only ones I would agree with are Ashley and Roe as BoB in episode 1. I'm sure these won't ever become officially realized, but here's a couple prerequisites for BoB/BoW: Obviously, if Chef Ramsay directly names someone as such; if someone earns his praise on at least 3-4 occasions; and/or if someone takes a clear leadership role. The ones that have been named so far are just the contestants doing WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO DO. Ramsay even said to Bryant, currently one of 1302's BoWs, that just doing his job on apps is not a reason to celebrate; it's just him doing his job. Now, the reason I agree with Ashley and Roe for 1301 BoB is because Ashley earned nothing but praise from Ramsay for her food, and Roe led the team while also doing well cooking.50.164.187.208 (talk) 01:05, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It shouldn't be some level of criteria like 3-4 praises. It should be when Ramsay purposely singles out someone with a consequence in mind. The person gets a bonus prize, gets their dish put on the next service, is exempt from the elimination round, or gets to nominate, the last of which is the whole point of BoW in the first place. -AngusWOOF (talk) 01:23, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
At least according to [2] and [3] I don't see any BoB or BoW's in the recaps of the first two episodes? -AngusWOOF (talk) 01:35, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't see anything in episode 3 that could justify inclusion either. BoB/BoW just seems WP:OR in 99% of cases. --AussieLegend () 17:47, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It is completely OR and POV. Those terms are never used onscreen. There is no justification whatsoever for making these false claims. If they're not removed, we need to bring in an admin to enforce NOR and WP:VERIFY.--209.122.114.237 (talk) 20:10, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'd correct what you said slightly. In Seasons 1-4, it *did* means something. For example, in the first episode of Season 4, the text is

Louross nominated Bobby and Dominic. While the men all blamed Bobby for the failure of the service, Chef Ramsay eliminated Dominic for his complete lack of professional experience and terrible performance.

. In season 5 and I believe all seasons since, it is *clearly* the choice of the *team*. I support removal of all BoW and BoB (not sure BoB ever meant something) from Season 5 onward.Naraht (talk) 16:17, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Started a Season 1-4 question about BoB having meaning at talk main page[edit]

Please comment at Talk:Hell's Kitchen (U.S. TV series)#Best of the *Best* had meaning? Naraht (talk) 17:10, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion about 1306 and 1307[edit]

There seems to be some confusion at the Contestant progress table that if episode 1306/07 and 1307/08 are split up or not. Since even though the Contestant was eleminated from the episodes (Katie from 1306 and Ashley from 1307) there was still a team switch between the episodes with in earlier seasons have set the episodes as a two parter (episode 1112/13 where Nedra switched over to the blue team and 808/09 where Trev switched back to the blue team) and since Sterling switched from the blue team to the red in 1306/07 and and Sade and Frank switched in between 1307 and 1308 i just wanted to know if that still applies since it's been switched back and forth a couple of times now? Aaron and Steve...[edit]

There is *no* way that the way in which Aaron and Steve left should be marked with the same color/abbreviation combination... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Naraht (talkcontribs) 22:19, 1 December 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, with the current key, there is no other option that meets the requirements of MOS:ACCESS. We need to start using explanatory notes to clearly identify the differences. --AussieLegend () 06:23, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Contestant progress tables[edit]

I have opened a discussion at Talk:Hell's Kitchen (U.S. TV series)#Contestant progress tables regarding the use of a template for the key used in each season for "contestant progress" tables. Comments would be appreciated. --AussieLegend () 12:02, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Preemptions[edit]

What was the reason of Hell's Kitchen not airing on October 22 and October 29? Wonderwizard (talk) 22:39, December 7 2014 (UTC)

2014 World Series games 2 and 7.Naraht (talk) 01:48, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Does this need to be noted in the article? Or the broadcast date as is good enough? -AngusWOOF (talk) 01:58, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Don't see why it would need to be in the article. --Jnorton7558 (talk) 02:35, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

RFC:'Order Of'...[edit]

Not just in this article, but the previous seasons, we have or have had three "Order of" statements and I'd like comments on whether they are worth while:

  • Order of Signature Dishes - I'm not sure this is really useful, but if it is included, I'd just like to make it part of the writeup of episode 1
  • Order in the Credits - Interesting, but I'm not sure that this really exists for any other show. We certainly don't include the order the actors get credited in RuPaul's Drag Race or Criminal Minds
  • Order of the photos. While I admire the people who figure out from the burning pictures the order that they are on the wall (though in some seasons a scene filmed in Ramsey's office has helped), I'm not sure it contributes anything to the article.Naraht (talk) 13:44, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering the same myself. I see no encyclopaedic value in any of them. --AussieLegend () 14:02, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The Order of Signature dishes should either be listed in the first episode or integrated into the summary. It does not need to be put in the contestant list since they never refer to that after that episode. The order in the opening credits can be integrated into the table where they have the contestant profile (ages, occupation/job title) since that list is consistently shown. The order on the wall is not notable, what if they rearranged the pictures between episodes; should that make news? -AngusWOOF (talk) 16:58, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The "opening sequence/credits" subsection should be removed. There is no point to having a subsection with just one or two sentences. -AngusWOOF (talk) 17:06, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Finale Ramsay's remarks[edit]

For whatever reason when I tried editing this, it was not taking, so I am putting it here with the hopes someone else can properly do so.

Ramsay stated of LaTasha:

LaTasha has all the right ingredients to be a great chef. She is creative, a strong leader, has great attention to detail, and has an outstanding palate. But, the thing I love most about LaTasha is her determination. I know that she is ready for the challenge of being my head chef in Atlantic City, and I couldn't be happier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scarppylenny (talkcontribs) 08:21, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
