Game Engine[edit]

Does anyone know the name of the game engine (i.e., middleware) used in the development of Heavenly Sword? Is it third-party or in-house? Aeonassoc 14:57, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think I saw a Havok logo in the demo somewhere. I could be wrong, though.

~~Lazyguythewerewolf . Rawr. 21:34, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Havok is only the physics engine. The actual game engine is likely in-house. Scarslasher (talk) 01:35, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

QTE[edit]

Unless there's a description of it, or a source cited as to it's existance, it's gone. --EggRoll 22:00, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I had to search around quite a bit to find out what this meant. it stands for "Quick Time Event" and there are descriptions of it here: http://au.xbox.ign.com/articles/372/372604p1.html Strange that there is no wikipedia article on it. probably should be. might add it tomorrow if no one else does first. - Mloren 13:42, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

May release date?[edit]

It says here on http://uk.playstation.com/games-media/games/detail/item50911/Heavenly-Sword/, that Heavenly Sword's release date is set to be may, 2007, along with Lair. Pteren 12:20, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Override[edit]

The following sentence doesn't appear to make any sense and in my opinion should be removed:

'Heavenly Sword, according to GamePro, is the first PlayStation 3 game to override the PS3's Cell Broadband Processor, meaning that there will be more enemies, and artificial intelligence will be pushed to the limit, all in one single Blu-ray Disc format.'

To me, 'to override' means to ignore one decision in favour of another. Also, 'artificial intelligence will be pushed to the limit' isn't exactly verifiable; I don't think it's ever correct to make a statement like this.

Finally, what exactly is a Blu-ray Disc format?

I'd go ahead and remove it myself, but someone would probably be annoyed.

Meh i left it up in hopes that some one that read the gamepro article would re-write so it actually makes sense ~Corpse 03:06, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rating[edit]

On amazon.com they have a picture of both sides of the game cover, on the cover it has the rating of Teen. Is there anyway to tell if it's official? Einstein the afrodude 03:02, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:HS.PS3.jpg[edit]

Image:HS.PS3.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Changing Cover Art[edit]

Hey there seems to be an updated version of the cover art. Here it is: http://blog.us.playstation.com/ Can somebody change it, I have been trying but can't do it. Thanks! Starwarsrulez 05:14, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Twing Twang?[edit]

What the hell is Twing Twang? --68.195.25.63 22:01, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At the beginning of the demo (which may or may not be the first level) Nariko says to some cat chick retard thing that she 'may need to play twing-twang' Zero Punctuation mocked it a bit, which seems to have made it an emerging meme.

~~Lazyguythewerewolf . Rawr. 21:37, 10 September 2007 (UTC) "She then adds, with a totally straight face: We May Need You To Play Twing Twang" -Zero punctuation —Preceding unsigned comment added by David Cat (talkcontribs) 15:14, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kai(the young female with the cat hat) seems to be a troubled child. Later in the game you find out her mother was killed in front of her. Because of this she seems to be a near sociopathic oddball of a young girl and gets excited over a game of "twing twang". Twing Twang is the use of her repeating crossbow for murdering men. Noriko, and her father, tell Kai to play twing twang whenever they need to defend their fort, or later when when attacking. GearType2 22:39, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date[edit]

I went to get the game today since it is the release date mentioned her but couldn't so I did some hunting.

A Target Associate told me it came out on the 9th. Walmart associates were not helpful in determining a date, brushed me off. Best Buy's website says it comes out on the 13th. Amazon's website says it comes out on the 15th. Target's website says it comes out on the 13th. Walmart's website says it comes out on the 12th. EB Games' website says it comes out on the 12th. Gamestop's website says it comes out on the 12th.

So what is the release date for the game? --The Virginian 15:54, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

description[edit]

Perhaps a better/more professional description than "hacky-slashy-maimathon" should be substituted in the first paragraph? 64.47.121.98 17:31, 12 September 2007 (UTC) Zero Punctuation again... ~~Lazyguythewerewolf . Rawr. 17:50, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More Elaboration on Nariko[edit]

I just recently reworked the section names and wordings under the Plot section (changed "Plot" to "Plot and Settings" and created a subsection out of what used to be the section called "Kai"). I noticed that there is plenty indepth information about Kai's character, mentality, and abilities in the game but there is hardly any elaboration on Nariko. Since Nariko is the main character there definitely needs to some more detail there. I do not currently have the game but I am planning on purchasing it sometime soon. Anyone who has already delved into the game, can you please elaborate more on Nariko?¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 22:15, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a little. I began reworking the article recently after I noticed there was still some text talking about the game in the future tense. I also put the expand tags in since I haven't finished the game as yet, so don't really know much about what ultimately happens (for instance, someone edited the Kai section, since I'd put that she was a member of the clan... apparently she's from a different clan). Will add more when I get round to finishing the game. SynergyBlades 23:43, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeh Kai is from some other clan and Nariko found here, Flying Fox said that "he wanted to kill the last member of a once great clan" so I'm guessing he meant that Kai was apart of some great snipers clan but that's speculation on my part. Have either of you completed the game and understood it?Sam ov the blue sand, Editor Review 00:27, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heavenly Sword on Heroes[edit]

Did anyone else notice this? In an episode of NBC's Heroes, last season, Jessica (aka Niki) was playing Heavenly Sword with her son Micah. This should be added to a "Pop Culture" section. The episode was entitled "Parasite" and aired 3/5/07. --Cdman882 16:36, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It used to be in the article a while back, but appears to have been edited out as time has moved on. I've put it into the Development section, as Trivia sections in Wikipedia articles are discouraged. SynergyBlades 20:22, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Plot Section Written[edit]

I finally was able to obtain a copy of the game and completed it over the weekend. I gave the plot and character sections some major updates. Feel free to look it through and improve and add citations where necessary!¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 03:08, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Weak Point For Massive Damage[edit]

A shout out to gamers, or making fun of a video game company? Either way, I think this should be thrown into the trivia section, since Kai says it right before obtaining the "monkey peaches" password. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.252.76.200 (talk) 14:15, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nariko's age[edit]

I added Nariko's age. In the first cutscene she said that a deity would be reborn 23 year ago - it's her age. Am I right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.223.200.1 (talk) 19:16, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese cover art needed for this article[edit]

If anyone can upload the Japanese cover art for the video game and use it in this box, we would appreciate it. Just like We Started Nothing and Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned and albums, showing alternate covers, this article may also need an alternate cover, showing its origins in addition to changes in America. example image from Play-Asia.com SolanaRanger (talk) 01:15, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shared universe with God of War?[edit]

Considering Kratos' Armor and chain blades show up in the game and are a clear homage to his character, could it be said that it's a shared universe? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.163.90.213 (talk) 18:01, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt it. Cite your sources. Jabberwockgee (talk) 01:56, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wuxia video game category[edit]

I saw in the history for this article that this game had been categorised in the wuxia video game category, however when I checked just then it was no longer in there, which is mighty odd. Typical wuxia elements in novels, film and television include: revenge, love, family-ties storylines; an oriental setting; fantasy-abilities such as flight and power; and martial-arts stances. However, by all means, if there's someone who, for some reason, disagrees that Heavenly Sword is a wuxia, it would be interesting to hear their side of it.
