Charts[edit]
Which chart is referred to in the table on this page, US or Uk? I think both would need to be included, if we are going to include any. The same would go for the other Graham Parker albums.
Really, a table doesn't seem necessary for just a couple of facts like this; they could be incorporated into the text. But you at least need more than one piece of data to make the table meaningful, and in Parker's case, only listing one chart seems incomplete. Ccoll 01:38, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- This was one of my early ones, so I didn't distinguish Billboard (fixed now). I got the info from AMG. If you can find Brit chart info, MPTY. I think chart info (however small) should always be in wikitable format, though it can be included in the text as an illustration of public impact of music (particularly pre-1982). The only songs of GP's I remember when they came out were "Don't Ask Me Questions," and "Crawling from the Wreckage" (suitably Edmundsed) but then I was in my late teens at the time. (GP is always Graham Parker. Gram Parsons died when I was listening to Tony Orlando and Dawn). --Fantailfan 02:24, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think I had some UK chart info when I last edited the main Graham Parker page. I'll check again when I get a chance. I recall learning that all the Rumour albums were significantly more successful there than in the US: top 30 singles and top 20 albums. Where are you looking for guidelines on proper album page formatting? The guidelines keep changing... Ccoll 06:56, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums has the relevant formatting but yes, the guidelines keep changing. As mentioned elsewhere (reference TK) the UK charts are based on sales rather than airplay+sales so they aren't exactly comparable. I think that a UK artist should always have UK chart info where available, followed by US charts. In addition, I think relevant Australian and Canadian charts (in that order) should be presented, especially when the artiste is from one of those UK/US-culture countries. Since I get the info from AMG and they use Billboard (and they aren't always correct, perhaps a standard data-error problem) that's what I use.
