aderay is derogatory[edit]

hadere or adere is not derived from harar and there is no place in the region by the name adere. the city is called harar and the people are harari. the term adere was used by the invaders and has since been used by everyone..here is a source "The use of derogatory terms such as 'Galla', 'Wolamo'-and 'Adere', exhibits another bias, although it is noteworthy that the authors do state the preference for the now current ethnonyms; the term Harari is used consistently instead of Adere"-Ethiopian studies at the end of the second millennium-p.930 "was represented by the Semitic-speaking Harari, who use to call themselves ge leg (or children of the town," i.e, Harar) and are known as Adare among their neighbours."-Islamic History and Culture in Southern Ethiopia: Collected Essays-p.35 "Oromo oral informants unanimously report that they acquired the khat plant and the habit of chewing it from the "Adere," as they prefer to call the Harari."-Ethiopia in broader perspective: papers of the Xllth-p.115 Baboon43 (talk) 07:35, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
