Cleanup[edit]

It seems to me that a great portion of this article is based on the Tolstoy novel, and not on historical fact. Considering that Hadji Murad was a fictionalized account of the events in question--moreover one that was probably based on a lot of imagination and folklore and very little fact--I am tempted to remove large portions of this article and turn it into a stub. Okay, cleanup is complete--the article is now a stub. My apologies to the editor who worked hard to write all of that, but none of it was up to Wikipedia standards. A fictional work about a historical figure is not a point of historical reference. Fearwig 18:35, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Tolstoy novel is based on a lot of fact, including the Russian military archives and Murad's own account. Anyway, I have expanded the article, drawing on other sources. AllenHansen (talk) 12:56, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
