County Route 517 (New Jersey)[edit]

Resolved

I noticed that County Route 517 (New Jersey) is not listed under the transportation category. Is there a reason for that? It's a very significant route going straight through most of Hackettstown.

If we included 517, would we have to include every County Route (some of which are much less significant)?

Conviction of James Titus - Cliffhanger?[edit]

Resolved

In the History section portion about the murder of Tillie Smith, the paragraph finishes with "The conviction was". Was something edited out accidentally? Did something happen with the conviction? I don't have access to the book to which the paragraph cites, but through some quick Google searches it seems that Titus' actual conviction never changed, overturned or otherwise, though quite a number of websites question it. Is that how it's meant to be finished? "The conviction [has been] contested"? Otherwise, that sentence should be taken out. --Thumbtax (talk) 04:39, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Emil/Emile Benoist[edit]

Two of three sources use the name "Emile Benoist" instead of "Emil Benoist." His gravestone has an "e" on the end of his name, so I'm changing it to Emile. Please let me know if you know how it should be spelled!(https://images.findagrave.com/photos250/photos/2007/5/17326914_116813474203.jpg) "Yes...It's Raining" 06:55, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Place of residence for Ken Kelsch[edit]

I am moving this discussion from my own talk page to here so we can seek consensus about this question that Alanson has raised:

The source you cite in this edit from The Hollywood Reporter (see here) to establish Ken Kelsch as a notable from Hackettstown, New Jersey, says that "Kelsch died Monday at Hackettstown Medical Center in New Jersey", but doesn't say that he lived there. Am I missing something in the source? Alansohn (talk) 17:51, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Alansohn: His home address is listed in several yellowpage type sites. I won't link to those here for obvious reasons, but it's also in WP:SELFSOURCE's like his goodreads profile, his mandy.com audition page, as well as his mother's obituary. Feel free to add what you see fit. Good enough? Kire1975 (talk) 19:16, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yellowpage sites are not reliable, I don't see a mention in goodreads and I'm not sure that the other sources meet the standard. But can I ask that you pick the best you can find among those sources that explicitly connects him to Hackettstown and replace the THR source which manes no mention of the town? I'll try to look elsewhere, but I haven't had much luck, myself. Alansohn (talk) 19:25, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Alansohn use Ctrl+F to find Hackettstown on the goodreads profile. The standard is on WP:SELFSOURCE. It is not self-serveing or an exceptional claim, it doesn't involve claims about third parties or events not related to the subject, there is no reasonable doubt as to him being a resident of Hackettstown since at least 2009, the wikipedia article is not based on such sources. I would say the best one would be the Mandy.com profile, but leaving it there without it being at least accompanied by the THR article would raise even more red flags. Can we move this discussion to Talk:Hackettstown, New Jersey and seek a consensus please? Kire1975 (talk) 19:38, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
