Armament[edit]

Pakenham was either fitted with four 4--inch guns and two banks of torpedo tubes, or with five 4-inch guns and one bank of torpedo tubes. The Wikipedia article on the Battle of the Cigno Convoy suggests that she had two banks of tubes, in which case she must have been fitted with four guns. Conways states that all O-class destroyers were completed with the four-inch gun amidships in place of the after torpedo tube bank, while this gun was "initially mounted in most of the P's". As there is a clear clash of details between these two articles, it bears looking into further. Photographs of various O & P class destroyers taken from 1943 onwards appear to show several class members (including Petard, Opportune and Porcupine) with four single 4-inch guns and two banks of tubes. As the 'Cigno Convoy' battle article presumably uses verified sources, which describe two banks of tubes on board P92.29.127.120 (talk) 20:39, 1 June 2022 (UTC)akenham at the time of her loss, perhaps this article should be edited to reflect that fact, rather than giving just the 'as-built' standard armament for a 'P@?[reply]
