Unexplained term v sin i[edit]
What is "v sin i" in the article? It is not explained. --Mortense (talk) 10:31, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
- v is the orbital velocity while i is the inclination of the orbit to the line of sight of the observer. I.e. it is the maximum component of the velocity along the line of sight. See Stellar rotation. Regards, RJH (talk) 16:16, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
How is orbital period P measured =[edit]
Sometimes by seeing periodic variations in brightness as spots cross the face - but how else ? How account for variation of period with latitude ? - Rod57 (talk) 10:12, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
What is the function[edit]
