Article Intro[edit]

Hoi! Thanks for taking interest in my Gungrave Anime article. This is my first 'from-scratch' article, and I hope it pleases.

My reasons for creating this article is because I was unhappy with the very little information on the series on the main page for the Gungrave. I created a new page because by adding data to the already existing page, there was a danger of having more info on a topic secondary to the main article.

To Do List[edit]

  1. I'm halfway through writing out the basic series synopsis, and intend to create an episode guide to detail the events of each episode.
  2. Intend to do a section about the music e.g. Opening and Closing thems, Soundtrack CDs etc.
  3. Staff list

If there is anything that anyone else feels should be added then please feel free to add it, or alter any incorrect details (let's just keep it OBjective, not SUBjective, okay? n__n)

Thanks for visting/helping

Episode Summaries[edit]

I began to start filling in episode summaries, but I realized that it had been nearly a year since I had fully watched the series. I have broken out and dusted off the series that I burned onto DVD and am in the process of viewing it now and keeping paper and pen notes of each episode. Should have everything completed by the end of the night or early tomorrow. If anybody has anything to add to it before or after I have edited, I'd be thankful for the help. When I am transfering all the notes from paper to wiki, will place an inuse tag to signify such. -Websurdities 17:42, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
PS - sorry for the multiple edits... trying to get the hang of this.

  • If you want, look to other shows and see how they format episode summaries. Avatar: The Last Airbender and Battlestar Galactica have some nice orderly tables for summaries that can be expanded on if somebody wants to make more detailed pages for specific episodes. You can look at the code in the edit page of those documents and work out how to do it here if you like. Hewinsj 13:27, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I recommend that you should add a wikiquote section now that you are reviewing the whole series, just a recommendation.

Plot Overview & Episode Guide[edit]

Thanks to those that have contributed to the page so far (also nice to see Gungrave Overdose has its own page too.

Firstly I had to change the Plot Overview back to teh previous with some changes. Sorry to TehBeefWhistle, but your contribution just had too many spoilers which SHOULD really appear in the Episode Guide.

Next - First Episode entry complete! YAY! I'll do more when I find time though. I've also got a stack of screenshots from the series to add too.

PS I plan on adding a Trivia section sometime soon too. Wish me luck!

I've made some edits to your entry for episode 1. Good stuff, just needed some run-on sentences kept in check and a bit of spelling correction. I was also thinking that it would be a good idea to put the quotes from the episode list on the main page with their corresponding episode. Right now there are effectively have two episode lists running, and this would help clean up redundant information.

If we do that we could open up space for a list of anime characters on the main article (which could would help clean up the Gungrave Game article). Hewinsj 06:07, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for going over my episode 1 entry - I just hope there weren't too many mistakes ^^;

But as for the Preview quotes, I guess that would be better. I put them on the main page so that there couple be just a little coverage on the Episodes on that page, with a whole different page dedicated to each episode plot. but if it does look messy (which I admit, it does) I suppose it could just be left as a list of episode titles - would that look okay do you think?

And about the character list - hoho, you read my mind. I was planning on making yet another page for anime specific character bios. By that I mean all the characters that appear in the anime, except of course really minor characters like "crying kid at restaurant in episode 15".

It's all good, I liked the content of your first summary, I just wanted to clean it up a bit. I don't want to step on your toes, but I'll make suggestions or corrections here and there. The only reason I oppose the list of episodes on the main page is because it's a little too cluttered, and it comes up again in next page. I do however feel it could be added to the info on the summaries. I've seen other articles for tv shows and anime that have a section called Episodes on the main article and contain just a link to an episode summary article (one to two sentences per article, and a screen cap), which links to separate articles for each episode with more detailed descriptions. Check out Avatar and Naruto for examples of how this is done and see what you think.
Getting the characters together would be cool. Separate it into main and minor at your own digression, so long as the order they're arranged in makes sense. You could spin off major and minor characters into separate articles provided there's enough information. I'll probably get one together for the Gungrave game article before too long and cut out the irrelevant characters. Hewinsj 06:00, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dante = Grave?[edit]

Anyone else notice the similarities between them? Dante uses two handguns colored white and black and if you play DMC3 and press the O button in Gunslinger style he'll start shooting exactly like Grave, one arm over the other. You can even move one arm to shoot to the side and behind you while the other keeps shooting forward, something Brandon did a lot as a sweeper and as Grave. I've heard rumors about a connection but nothing concrete. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.201.64.2 (talk) 13:39, 6 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I think it is possible that "Gunslinger" style was inspired by a lot of shoot em up movies games and animes. Since Gungrave the anime was released in 2004 (the game in 2002 where he also does a lot of crazy gun moved) and Devil May Cry 3 released in 2005, I do not believe Gungrave pulled it off Devil May Cry, especially when a lot of the gun action is very similar to the Trigun anime by the same director, which was around long before Devil May Cry 207.1.15.21 (talk) 23:38, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've helped you out a bit and added a few pictures and necessary citations. I'll also be adding more screenshots and a few other things. Thanks for writing the guide in the first place. Grandor 17:13, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia[edit]

I'm removing the Big Daddy = AlPachino, Brandon Heat = Brandon Lee etc. thing. Brandon as far as I know is designed purely as a younger Grave, who is based on Antonio Banderas. The Big Daddy thing is true but such information is not anime specific and SHOULD be in the game's page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CosmicFool Enterprises (talkcontribs) 20:01, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
