Should we include a section with internet speculation? Lose The Game

I have created the List of songs in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith article just to redirect to the main article. Just like other Guitar Hero articles, users are going to add speculation and create the article, so I just created it to hopefully prevent it. Dedicated to Aerosmith?

in the article it says "The game, which will focus entirely on the top-selling American rock band Aerosmith, is set to be released this June." but the PR says "As fans progress through their careers in the game, they can rock out to scores of Aerosmith's greatest hits, as well as songs from celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way." Protection?

Why is this page protected now? I started this entry after much debate in the GH3 talk section, and now I'm not even allowed to edit it, without even so much as a discussion about the necessity for protection? There was some vandalism/trolls that were constantly adding the text "Lose The Game" to the article in the past few days. I don't know if anyone requested for page protection, but a Wikipedia administrator had went ahead and protected the page. Due to the hype over the announcement of this game, there had been considerable vandalism to both this article as well as to the main Aerosmith article. I requested that both articles be semi-protected. A one-week period of semi-protection (meaning only established registered users can edit) for this article was instituted, while a two-week period of semi-protection was insituted for the Aerosmith article. I'm one of the primary members of the Aerosmith WikiProject, and when I notice that articles are vandalized so much to the point where the vandalism is not being properly reverted in time, and when the history page is loaded with recent vandalism edits by IPs, it's time to semi-protect it. This is just meant to be sort of a cool-down period to try and discourage the vandals and trolls. I must say, though, that the people who put this article together so quickly have done a great job so far. I'm sorry if you're too new that you can't edit it, but just give it about a week, and you can resume editing. Abog (talk) 16:26, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

PC/Mac Platform

This game is in the "PC game" and "Mac game" category, but as far as the article states, there doesn't seem to be a planned release for computer. Game Informer says that these songs are in the game: Movin' Out, Make It, Sweet Emotion, Draw The Line, Uncle Salty, No Surprize, Kings and Queens, Mott the Hoople - All The Young Dudes, The Kinks - All Day and All of the Night, Joan Jett - I Hate Myself for Loving You, Cheap Trick - Dream Police

Although it's just a quote from the band, viable or no?

Soundtrack section

Anon IPs continue to try to change the soundtrack section, presently in prose, to a list of songs like we'd normally do for the other GH games. However, I feel at the present, there's not enough verifiable information to create this list - we have about 4-5 songs absolutely confirmed, and 3-4 other groups, but then several others that are status unsure. I think we need to wait until we have at least 10-12 songs that can be fitted into a list (artist and song, particularly for non-Aerosmith tracks) to make this more a list than prose. --MASEM 15:26, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok, now that we have the first 3 tiers, I've gone ahead and made this a table. Note that I've used the format that I've converted the List of songs in Guitar Hero into based on a suggestion that grouping songs in tiers is showing some fan favoritism to the game, as likely others not necessarily interested in the game will be more interested in what songs, so grouping in one large sortable table (separating bonus songs if there are any) is better. Once the list is complete we'll move it to List of songs in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (which I will make sure redirects to here presently. ) --MASEM 23:28, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey all, getting a bit frustrated with keep being edited out, most recently over bonus songs. Also, I personally really do think that the soundtrack section, given the layout and storyline of this game, was much better suited to tier organisation. I'll add that in a bit (I think it was added before but destructriod wasn't serving it correctly, thus failing to be useful). As for the approach, once the full track is known, it'll be split off to a list article, which, based on our other GH lists that have gone to Featured List, should be approached like a discography and not from the standpoint of the game. "Simulation"

I would like to challenge the usage of the phrase, "simulation of the playing of rock music," or something to that effect. My reasoning is, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is not a simulator. If it were, it would have 22 fret buttons and 6 strum bars. Saying that it's a simulation is like sayig World of Warcraft is a mining simulator. Can I respectfully disagree? I think Guitar Hero and Rock Band type games are types of simulators, like the FIFA games are soccer sims, the Ace Combat games are flight sims, the Forza games are racing sims, etc. You can play all of these with a with a standard console controller and when doing so, they are still sims. It is not as though these games are only sims when played with the simulated controller (flight stick, driving wheel...um...nothing for FIFA though). Does that make sense? The controller (and amount or lack of buttons) isn't the issue. I think it's OK to call these games guitar/drum sims. The difference with WarCraft is, the point of the game is to wage war. Not go mining. It can be called a war planning sim...most video games do try to simulate something virtually. Oh and by the way I didn't touch this article or delete your edit...just browsing the talk page and thought I'd chime in. Dream On

Does anybody know if this version of Dream On will be the one from the first album or the rerecorded one for Guitar Hero III. Sweetchild01 (talk) 23:47, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Dream On hasn't been confirmed yet. The only mention is that it was released as DLC for Guitar Hero III. My 2 pennies is that the 2007 re-recording will show up in this game. I believe that Dream On will show up in GH:A since it was only available in GH3 for a week, then subsequently pulled. The limited window was used to keep the song fresh for the people who will buy this game, and to stave off the "I can get it in GH3, why would I pay for it?" arguments. I think they'll use the re-recording simply because they use re-recordings when the masters are lost or unusable, which would be pretty likely for a song recorded in the 70s. The original's either lost in the ether, or the guitar track had other instruments on it, making it unusable for the game (Harmonix has explained before that's why a lot of the older songs in Rock Band are covers). The previews mentioned that Aerosmith had to re-record a few of their songs, because the masters weren't usable. Dream On is likely one of those. We'll see. Skrutop (talk) 15:18, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

History Section

Someone wrote the line "This is not the first time Aerosmith have featured in such a game. Quest for Fame had a very similar premise to this Guitar Hero edition" in the history section. It's an interesting tidbit, but it doesn't feel like it should be in the history section for GH:A. I'm thinking that there could be another section that references Quest for Fame and Revolution X as other games that have featured Aerosmith, but I'm not sure where to put it and what to call it. There is no proof for these songs. The Cult & Run DMC

The new display box at Gamestop adds that there will be a song by The Cult - I'd assume "She Sells Sanctuary" - and that Walk This Way will be the Run DMC version. Controller featured on US TV

Train Kept A Rollin' Named in Xbox 360 Achievements

Why No Order?

Why in the setlist is it all out of order from the venues? Shouldn't it be in order from the venues? It just looks kinda dumb in the "Set 2, Set 5, Set 1" format. --ZacLOL (talk) 21:46, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

When we brought the other Guitar Hero lists to Featured List status, it was recommended that we treat the list as a discography, with the tracks in alphabetical order, rather than as they are presented in game, as, from a WP standpoint, it is not what order that the tracks are that are in the game, it's what tracks are in the game that is most important with the widest appeal.

I'm with ZacLOL on this one. I think it makes more sense to show where they are in the game. It's not like the list is hundreds of songs long; if you need to scan for Sweet Emotion, for instance, it's pretty easy to find. Skrutop (talk) 13:28, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Release Date

Amazon lists the release date as June 29, not the 28th as listed at the top of the article. Since there is no reference for June 28, can it be trusted? Order By Tier Broken?

Soundtrack ready to split off?

Moscow and Half Time Show Switched?

Someone swapped Moscow and the Half Time Show (HTS) tiers in the list, which matches what consolehero.com has --> [1]. However, that's different than what's been on the page for awhile, and if you click the source link for tier 5 on the consolehero page for GH:A, it says that HTS is tier 4. So which is it? I believe this is implied by the information in the Bundle section: as it will be a standalone game as well as a bundle, older guitar controllers should still work. This could be made more explicit however. --MASEM 15:25, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Final Setlist revealed

Story is being picked up in multiple places now. [Joystiq], Kotaku also has it up. Has the final Tier listings (Moscow, then Half-Time, then Hall of Fame) + the vault. The only "mistake" that I'm hearing is that the Guitar Battle comes before "Train Kept A Rollin'"...but that's only from forum posts and YouTube vids? what say everybody? Differences from Guitar Hero III

I added this section, but I'm not the best with words so someone more experienced should clean this up. I feel that this section is important because while the two games are very similar there are differences, and I believe that most people considering the purchase of GH Aerosmith will be people who played GH3 previously.

Difficulty

I've added in the reception section a short paragraph mentioning the things I've read on forums where fans of the series have complained about how easy the game is. Since I've seen a fair few people claiming to have beat the game in a day I think it's notable. "Four note-chord" significance?

Is there any significant reason that the four-note chord is mentioned? I know this is something that's been removed on more than one occasion. It sounds kind of game guidish to me, it may be noteable in the first occurance (similiar to how GHII "introduced" three note chords), but are we going to keep track of every instance going forward? -- TRTX ^{T / C} 12:10, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Rock Band Guitar

Three key things:

• The bundle image needs to be replaced with a free image of the guitar; that is replacable non-free and it won't fly in FA.

• We need sales #s. I have not seen any but it's only been out a couple weeks.

One thing I can suggest is that you somehow make the game older and less currently relevant. Bundle Image

What should the image we replace the current bundle image look like? Where should I look for it? King Rock (Gears of War) 18:22, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

I believe the recommendation was that someone should photograph the guitar which comes with the game bundle, or otherwise the contents of the game bundle. Strange Vandalism

Ok, when I wasn't logged in there was some strange vandalism, with a reference to the Zodiac Killer, that overflowed the page. It's on all guitar hero pages, so I think there should be protection, until this user is blocked. I'm not that skilled of a wikipedia user, and couldn't find anything on the history of the page. Ok, somebody is doing this to Wikipedia pages! I was just editing 'Prior Restraint' and somebody had vandalized that one as well and on top of that this time they had a pic file with a Zodiac sign. Russian letters (cyrlic) and the message "I am Zodiac, you cannot stop me" on it. That is not funny. PC version / Rock Band Strat?

Other version guitar controllers

I have tested that also the XBox 360 explorer USB version works with the PS2 version of GH: A. No adapters needed, just plug the USB in. Releasing the Star Power does not work by tilting the guitar, instead you have to use back button of the controller. Any reliable source for this? Is a youtube video enough?
