BRMB[edit]

The article seems to skip over large parts of his broadcasting career, particularly that at BRMB where he was a presenter for several years. Here's what I remember of him.

I know Torrington spent at least five years with BRMB during the 1980s and 1990s presenting something called Romantica (which had previously been presented by Charley Neal of all people). The show was basically three hours of love songs with listeners calling or writing in to make dedications. I think the show got into trouble from time to time because they would get the odd crank call. Torrington also presented a drivetime show in the early 1990s and later a weeknight show for BRMB in 1992/1993 which included an hour of love songs titled The Love Zone. When BRMB was revamped in 1993 he left and took the weekday show to Buzz. At the time Buzz had recently been bought by Muff Murfin and was being revamped itself. Sadly, however, although Torrington's show had been very popular on BRMB he (and Brendan Kearney, another former BRMB presenter who took over the breakfast show) couldn't save Buzz from the axe. Not sure what Torrington did after Buzz closed though. I know The Love Zone name was kept by BRMB and presented by "Doctor Love".

Shame this is all from my memory and none of it is referenced. I'll have a look around and see what I can find. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 14:30, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thinking about it I seem to recall he might have launched Kix 96. TheRetroGuy (talk) 14:39, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Third opinion[edit]

I'm requesting a third opinion following a recent dispute over the inclusion of information regarding the fate of a radio programme presented by the subject. On 22 March an anynymous ip added information suggesting Torrington's Late Night Love show was about to be dropped in favour of a programme presented by Donny Osmond. I was somewhat sceptical about this at first, but on investigation I discovered this article from a fairly reliable source that backed up the claim, so rewrote the paragraph and added the reference. On several occasions since then an anonymous ip has removed th entry without comment (see here for the latest example). As it's becoming a daily event, talking to the ip seems to have drawn a blank, and as I don't wish to become embroiled in an edit war I thought the time had come to request a third opinion. My own thoughts on this are that the information is neutral, and other events mentioned in the article have happened, so I'm not entirely sure what the issue is. Comments[edit]

Unfortunately, until and unless the anon IP chooses to give a second opinion, it's not possible to give a third one. Having said that, I can't see any obvious reason to delete the referenced info, so, in the absence of such, I've left a note on the IP's talk page. Anaxial (talk) 12:25, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers. I'm not sure if the user will offer an explanation, but is certainly unhappy about something. If it becomes a problem I'll have to take it to ANI or something. Paul MacDermott (talk) 12:39, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
