Similarity to Platoon[edit]

Does anyone else think that the movie Platoon either borrowed from or was heavily influenced by 'Go tell the Spartans'? Lochdale 03:48, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Platoon" is actually the director Oliver Stone's partial (Hollywood) version of his experience in Vietnam. Charlie Sheen plays Oliver's character. Stone actually did volunteer for the army & Vietnam and did serve with the infantry in combat in Vietnam.

Concerning "Go Tell the Spartans"; Muc Wa (spelling) actually does exist, and exists where the film says it does. The CH-34 Choctaw helicopter in the film is also historically correct.

Lancaster's speech[edit]

I remember hearing variations of Burt Lancaster's speech as tall tales and misattributions. Perhaps the blow job story deserves an urban myth trivia item if a source can be found.
