Tag for Promotional Content[edit]

@WaddlesJP13: could you please explain what you think reads as promotional content, as this important working group impacts many other organisations, including WMF its important for people to have access to what they do. Happy to change the tone if needed but I could use more detail on what you meant. Cheers Scott Thomson (Faendalimas) talk 22:34, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Faendalimas: The tag indicates that the article or content within it is written in a promotional tone/can be passed off as an advertisement, and should be corrected or else some of the article could be removed or it could be marked for deletion under CSD G11 by another user. @WaddlesJP13: yes I understand what the tag means I just was not sure what parts you were referring to. Its modeled on the IUBS page, all the links are internal all the publications linked are Wikidata Items. The only sentence I had a problem with was the point that three publications are in press to be added later, which I did as a way of explanation since some may wonder why the numbering system is out of whack on the publications. However, happy to remove that sentence. There is a sentence about Catalogue of Life which I was asked to add, by COL, however it links to the WP page on COL not their site. The only external link is in the Corporation box to their website and the DOIs for publications. Cheers Scott Thomson (Faendalimas) talk 19:39, 4 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Source for organizational information[edit]

@Faendalimas: I removed the section on organizational structure because I could not find any provided reference containing that information, and I couldn't find it on the IUBS website either; obviously the governance people of IUBS are not the same as those of the working group. Could you remedy that? Also, I would suggest that the detail provided is actually a bit too much - not to take away from your website developer credits :) but I don't think we usually present all these minutiae in an article on a research org. Maybe reduce the personal names to mentioning the coordinator and giving a link to a listing of everyone else? (Keeping the listing of the associated organizations is probably more suitable because we seem to have articles on most of them.) @Elmidae: Yes working groups in the IUBS are run by their own teams and overseen by the IUBS. I am fine with these edits. Obviously this is a group I am professionally part of which I did try to acknowledge so that people could clearly realise that. This also means I am ok with any reasonable edits as I do have and acknowledge a COI issue in this. So I appreciate you reviewing this for me. Yes you have articles already for all bar one of the organisations GSLWG is associated with, the on you do not is mentioned in another article so I linked to this. Thanks again, Cheers Scott Thomson (Faendalimas) talk 01:39, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Elmidae: On your other point, the GSLWG is only listed within the IUBS at present, they will get their own page but this has been delayed because of lockdowns. The first meeting was held literally 4 weeks before the pandemic hit. As can be seen in the info provided I will be developing that but, I have to be given root access to the IUBS domain to do it, so hence the delay. Anyway absolutely fine with that being removed and I will provide additional links when I can. Cheers Scott Thomson (Faendalimas) talk 01:54, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
