References[edit]

This article reads like a promotion by Ms. Fumanti's management or associates, which I suspect it is. (See: WP:COI) I have removed all links to commercial sites selling her records and/or tickets to her concerts. ISBN numbers have been added to the discography instead of links to the purchase page on Amazon.com. Note that virtually all of the remaining 'references' are links to promotional press releases, 'puff pieces' supplied by her management, and her own web sites and thus lack verifiability and neutral point of view. Note also that I have checked the web site of the Quebec Cerebral Palsy Association and there is no mention of her whatsover, let alone mention of her as a "World Ambassador" This needs proper verification, not simply the assertion on Ms. Fumanti's web site. 'Charity work'[edit]

Note that an anonymous editor has now changed the charity to Québec Multi-Ethnic Association for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities and listed their web site in the external links section. Note, Ms. Fumanti's name is not mentioned anywhere on that site. If a reliable reference is not provided within one week, I am going to delete the Charity Work section entirely.Voceditenore 14:52, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict between two accounts[edit]

The current version contains these two reports with identical wording in the last half of each sentence. I don't read French and am wondering what's going on:

  • Giorgia Fumanti is the Québec Multi-Ethnic Association for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (AMEIPH), Spokesperson, performing concerts, meeting with members and doing what she can to increase awareness of the condition.[1]
  • She is also the World Ambassador for the Cerebral Palsy Association of Quebec (L’Association de paralysie cérébrale du Québec), performing concerts, meeting with members and doing what she can to increase awareness of the condition.[2]

The first one is grammatically wrong at the ending. The second comes from her website. -- Fyslee / talk 15:57, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From what I can make out, the article's creator and principle author, User:Jesangel, originally had the second one. When I pointed out that there was no mention of Fumanti on the L’Association de paralysie cérébrale du Québec web site and that her official web site was not a sufficient reference, she/he one of the anonymous editors changed the charity to a different organization, AMEIPH. The AMEIPH web site does now confirm that Fumanti is their spokesperson. But obviously, the wording no longer makes sense, as it deals with people with a variety of disabilities. I didn't notice it when I restored her/his old version of the section. Perhaps, leave a note on User talk:Jesangel? Best, Voceditenore 17:08, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If there were controversy about the factuality of the matter, her website wouldn't be sufficient, but since there isn't, and since her website can be used as a source in an article about herself, there should be no problem with the matter now. -- Fyslee / talk 18:36, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, keep it and just go ahead and re-word the mention of the other one so it makes sense. Originally, the article was largely copy-paste from her web site with no provision of independent verifiable references (just a few press releases). It still relies very heavily on them, though, and would be significantly improved by more neutral referencing and tone. Best, Voceditenore 03:53, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would expect that as she becomes better known we will be able to access more neutral sources, which is of course a good thing. I had never heard of her before a couple days ago. I found her on iTunes and was dumbfounded by this great voice. It's fun to discover singers with really good voices. Today I discovered a young NZ singer, Hayley Westenra. Great voice. But I still like Rod Stewart and Joe Cocker, so there's more to a great singer than a good voice.....;-) -- Fyslee / talk 05:23, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blatant promotionalism removed[edit]

I have just drastically shortened and copyedited the addition made to the career section of this article, which was one of the worst examples of unencylopedic puffery and blatant PR that I have seen in quite a while.

Future editors, especially those who are affiliated in any way (personal or professional) with Ms. Fumanti, must adhere to the following guidelines when editing this article.

1. Before even starting to edit it again, please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for guidance.
2. Simlarly, Wikipedia is not a newsletter or bulletin board. Avoid terms like "now", "soon", "currently" and "recently" which make the article both imprecise, and in many instances, quickly inaccurate. Instead, use expressions such as "as of 2009".
3. This is an encyclopedia article, not her personal web site or fan club. All additions must be referenced to reliable independent sources. Future performances and/or recording releases are inappropriate. Performances should be added once they have actually taken place and an independent reference for them can be provided.
4. All additions must be neutrally worded and use encyclopedic tone and style. Any additions which can be perceived by a neutral reader as hype or PR will be immediately removed. See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Avoid peacock terms for guidance.
5. Do not paste in text from websites, blogs, forums, etc. Apart from the almost invariably unsuitable promotional style, it is a copyright violation unless the sites explicitly display a public domain license. Further guidance can be found on the following pages. Please read them carefully:
6. Remember, that once you have written an article on Wikipedia, you no longer own it. It will always have to conform to Wikipedia's policies on content, style and formatting – not to the subject's desired image or marketing goals. Voceditenore (talk) 05:19, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
