List of Notables[edit]

Thank you to everyone for adding to the large list of notables, however, I'd like to make some requests. When adding names to the list, please do not add unprofessional and opinionated phrases (example. "he is the greatest and most famous volley ball player in Iranian history), unless you have a source to back up such a statement. Also if you are going to remove a name from the list please at least specify in the edit summary why you are removing this figure and why they do not belong on the list. Thank You. I added sources which cite and/or elaborate on the notable members of the Ghaffari Clan. Among them is a book on the Sheybani clan of Kashan because the Ghaffaris and Sheybanis intermarried frequently and thus, the Sheybani book has extensive writings on some members of the Ghaffari family. Citings sources strengthens the article. ThePrznKonection (talk) 23:18, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
How you are certain that Ghaffaries are really related to abu zar ghaffari? What is your reference? I think these calims really ruin the achievements of Ghaffary family. Anooshahpour (talk) 18:02, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.ghaffari.org/ is not related to the topic. Anooshahpour (talk) 18:07, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I did not post http://www.ghaffari.org/. Feel free to remove. I thought I had cited sources pretty well in the article. Both Tarikhe Kashan and Khanedan Ghaffarie Kashan make the claim that the Ghaffaris go back to Abu Zar (I cited both those sources). In addition, the same claim is made in Tarikhe Ghaffari. Also in Khanedan Ghaffarie Kashan, Hassan Naraqi provides texts from may earlier sources, such as genealogical work by Qaazi Rafie ed-Din Heydar Ghaffari, tracing the descent back to Abu Zar. I don't think these claims have any effect on the achievements of the Ghaffari family. And regardless of what you think of Abu Zar or the modern day Ghaffaris, they are about 1400 removed from one another. Also the family has been living in Iran now for roughly 1400 and by this time they'd be mostly of Iranian descent, Abu Zar is only the distant Patrilineal ancestor of the clan. About the notables list. Don't just go in there and remove everyone, post your reasons on here at least. 1) I did not put the last name Ghaffari because in the past most Iranians did not carry last names and last names were not codified until Reza Shah's era 2)It is pointless to repeat Ghaffari, since most of the members on the list are Ghaffaris patrilineally (a few exceptions, Hossein Kalani and the Entezams). All the people I added to the list I backed up with sources. Some of the newer additions by others do not have sources and that might be something to look at editing.
