Family Life

The Career Description Seems out of order needs to be organized, Should activism be included.

Activism is more of a sideline to his career, like Gregory Peck's.

Unless I missed it, there does not seem to be any mention of his relation to Rosemary Clooney. I would think that fact is significant enough to be mentioned in the article, especially since early in his career that was something he was well known for. Mcr29 18:32, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Roman Catholic

I have never heard him in any interviews refer to the Episcolpalian Church. His parents Nick and Nina are both Catholic's, and George was was baptize, and confirm as a Catholic. He was even a Altar Boy. [User: VMR][19 June 2006 ] 21:13 (CST)

Clooney's "financial" situation

under the Medical problems section the writer states that Clooney has been unable to get insurance to cover the previously uknown damage incurred on his neck during a torture scene in Syriana and that he mortgaged his house to cover the medical expenses. Is this really true, because from what I've read, Clooney's a multi-millionaire (residuals from E.R. plus his previous " (high salary" and points bonuses starring in films).

I agree. I've never heard of this, and I read all the various Hollywood trades. Perhaps that needs to be trimmed unless it's verified. Jeff Fenstermacher 23:23, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

George Clooney stated a few times during interviews that because of his injury on Syriana's set, he was unable to find insurance for his then new film as a director Good night, and good luck. E/R and ER

There were two diffrent shows E/R (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086704/) and ER (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108757/), Clooney was on both, but there is no clear mention of the diffrence

Career and context

Hi:

I think there's one episode of ER that warrents a mention: the one where most of the episode is spent in a park where Clooney's trying to rescue child trapped in a wading pool. This "action" episdoe" really lit the fuse on his career. Next, there's a section on the Peacemaker DVD where Clooney talks about his career post ER where he says he's at a point where he has to make very important decisions in the next two or three years. He then went on to do interesting things like Fail Safe, a live TV production.

Pro-Life??

Well, Clooney is Catholic so who knows? Warren Beatty and Jack Nicholson are also pro-life.

the lead in to the main sentence isn't actually controversial is it? why not take it out altogether, since when public criticism of abramoff and republicans become controversial?

Controversial to some of his fans perhaps, but not in liberal Hollywood. It must be remembered that until about 2003 Clooney's political beliefs were not generally known to the public.

I'm pretty sure that he has never stated if he is pro-life or not. He has also said that even if he and his father are both liberal, they disagree on several topics. One of them is the marriage between two men or two women.Annegc1 18:36, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Meh. I'm a liberal and I thought it was kind of pompous. Not controversial though, except for the fact that Hollywood actors have not really been major contributors to liberal progress. I wasn't offended by the speech though.

Devilish?

I wonder about that. Aside from being badly worded, with bad grammar, Wouldn't that be an opinion? I know plenty of people who think he's handsome.

Batman succession

Bruce Thomas played Batman in television commercials for OnStar and on the Birds of Prey television series. Both of these projects were produced with DC Comics' permission. So I would consider Bruce Thomas to be the actor who succeeded George Clooney and preceeded Christian Bale.User:TMC1982

Clooney's Political Persuasion

Someone or some editors hereabouts apparently object to identifying GC with liberalism despite the fact that the man himself proudly identifies himself as a "liberal" and thinks it has been a mistake for Democrats and progressives to run from the label.

Here is the entry I had suggested which has been repeatedly removed or edited:

Mr. Clooney is a self-professed political "liberal". Indeed, he has complained that political progressives have allowed the term to be viewed as a pejorative, saying: "Too many people run away from the label. They whisper it like you'd whisper, 'I'm a Nazi.' I am a liberal. Fire away." [1]

Cutting back the entry to the current "Mr. Clooney is a self-professed political 'liberal.'" and removing the link leaves the passage open to later revision on the grounds that the characterization is subjective and/or unverifiable - which may be the ultimate objective of those who have repeatedly removed and/or edited the passage I had suggested.

Two quibbles, one spelling, one grammar. As it reads now, GC is a "self-posessed liberal". I assume that what is intended is self-professed, though there is no denying that GC's public persona is very self-posessed. There is also no need for the quotes around the word liberal. Much like you would not put quotes around conservative in the same context.--Nufftin 21:56, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Dusk till Dawn

I took out "(the film that virtually propelled him into A-list status)". Hope that's okay. That movie was terrible, and I don't think it "propelled him" in any upwards trajectory at all.

I also wanted to wanted to question his inclusion in the Roman Catholic category, only because the same article mentions his considering becoming an Episcopalian clergyman earlier, and these are separate faiths. I don't know whether this is right or not, but there seems to be a contradiction.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Clooney's affair with Lisa Snowden (British TV presenter). I think this is the one he is going to marry. I guess, if they are not American, they are of no interest.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie are to be married at Clooney's place in Como, Italy. Mariella Frostrup, Goerge's previous acqaintance (girlfirend?), will be there.

Dating is not a matter of public record, no matter the nationalities of the participants. If he marries Lisa Snowdn or has a child with her, it would become encyclopedic. "This just might be the One!" is gossip.

Facebook group
