Page is looking quite nice since its last major edit. However, and keep in mind I was pretty young at the time, wasn't Gary primarily a wingman and half-forward flanker until the '90s? I recall how remarkable it was in his Norm Smith-winning performance in the 1989 Grand Final that he kicked 9 goals from the flank. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thedangerouskitchen (talkcontribs)

Year off?

Didn't Gary take an extended break from football for personal reasons, close to a whole season, in the early '90s? 1990 or 1991 perhaps?

btw I also posted the comment above. --Thedangerouskitchen 10:44, 9 Jul 2004 (UTC)

He retired before the 1991 season but came back after round 12 that year. Woodsy 10:00, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Controversy

Just wondering about this claim (which has been reverted) - "Ablett found much trouble during his time at the club [Hawthorn], including allegedly stealing from teammates." Any truth to it? Rogerthat Talk 04:00, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

I reverted this edit. One can allege all they like. I lived in Geelong during most of Ablett's career and don't recall anything hitting the media. Wikipedia isn't interested in rumour. He was never convicted of any theft related incident to my knowledge. His daughter recently was though. -- Longhair 04:08, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Sporting Family

I figured it would be silly to acknowledge Luke Ablett but not his other nephews. The article refers to Hawthorn legend Michael Tuck's marriage to Gary's sister Faye, so the connection appears somewhat obvious by following links. MrAngy 20:30, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Gary Ablett is considered by many as the greatest AFL footy player of all time yet that isnt mentioned at the start of his biography, where for instance wayne carey and james hird have that mentioned in theres. please edit it and put it in. other than that its pretty good.
